When you choose to use your credit union VISA for all your back-to-school shopping,you choose the card that saves you money. And when it comes to money, who doesntlove to save?

Choose the CardWith so many different credit cardsavailable, it can be hard to sift through the offers andfind the one thats just right for you. Here are a few tips to help you get started:

Pay attention to rates. If you need to transfer a balance, a 0% introductory rate isa great way to get free money. Just remember, if you will be carrying a balanceon your card, its important to get a card that offers a low rate, even after theintroductory period has ended.

Bulk up on the rewards. If you dont carry a balance over each month, you may

benefit more in finding a card that offers reward points rather than one that features alower rate.

Say no to fees. With so many credit card options available, theres no reason tosettle for a card that charges annual fees or membership fees (unless you want theadditional rewards or perks one may have to offer). And you most certainly shouldnthave to pay swipe fees, inactivity fees, or other sneaky fees.

Look for a secured credit card. If you have poor credit (or dont have any credit atall), a secured credit card can help you start building or rebuilding your credit.

Dont rush the decision. Opening and closing credit cards until you find the rightone can hurt your credit score, so make sure youve found the right fit before you goahead and open a credit card account.
