Construction is complete and residents will soon occupy Stones River Manor’s new Skilled Nursing Care Unit and Memory Care Unit, located in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Stones River Manor is an independent faith-based, not-for-profit senior living com-munity, that offers independent living apartments, stepped-care assisted living, memory care, adult day care, respite care, physician and clinic services, and complete nursing and therapy services.

This Design-Build contract included a 31,900 square-foot, one-story addition that con-tains a 30-bed skilled nursing care unit with private and semi-private rooms, a 24-bed memory care unit with private rooms, a physical therapy department, administrative and support spaces including various offices, two new dining halls, a beauty salon and new library.

J&S Construction® has been contracted to complete a 16,000 square-foot expansion to New World Import’s existing facility, located at downtown Nashville’s MetroCenter.

This expansion will enable New World Import owners to grow their business as well as meet the required industry standard of having par-ticular products stored in a climate-controlled space.

The scope of work includes a combination of insulated metal panels and EIFS exterior supported by a pre-engineered metal building. The new EIFS exterior will match the existing tilt-up concrete walls. Spray foam insulation will also be added to a new, metal-stud wall as well as an existing wall to assist with tempera-ture control.

Constraints of this site due to a limited work area and stringent stormwater guidelines will make this project both unique and complex. An underground stormwater detention system will be installed under a newly paved drive-way and parking area near the truck dock.

Round Lick Baptist Church Hosts Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Renovations to Enhance Clarksville’s Fieldstone Place UnderwayRenovation work has begun at Fieldstone Place, a senior living community located at 50 Patel Way in Clarksville, Tenn. Fieldstone Place offers elegant independent and assisted living apartments, as well as an adult day program and respite/short stays for seniors with specialized needs.

J&S Construction was contracted by property manager, Five Star Senior Living Inc., headquar-tered in Newton, Mass., to complete various renovations to the 102,825 square-foot, multi-level facility.

Founded in 2000, Five Star Senior Living Inc. operates more than 280 Independent Living, As-sisted Living, Alzheimer’s/Memory Care, Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation and Continuing Care Retirement Communities.

The majority of work will include updates to all common area flooring, ceilings and wall finishes with upgraded materials throughout the facility. New carpet will be installed throughout the main corridors and new acoustical ceiling tile will be installed. Chair rail wainscot paneling will be added at the corridors with handrail upgrades at the common areas. In addition, much of the lighting will be upgraded to LED type light fixtures.

Existing common area upgrades will include new flooring, paint and vinyl wall coverings, ceiling tile and upgraded lighting. J&S Construction will also re-work existing building space in the independent living wing to construct eight new apartment units with kitchens, baths and living areas.

J&S Construction was selected as the contractor for this project due to the ability to meet a tight schedule as well as an exemplary reference list. The project is scheduled for a six-month completion and work began in mid-March. J&S Construction will work alongside project designer, Luckett & Farley, the oldest continuing architectural firm in the country.

If you have a facility in need of renovations or maintenance upgrades, contact our corporate office at 931-528-7475 for more information.

Round Lick Baptist Church has much to celebrate as its new educational wing is now in use. The Watertown, Tenn. congregation welcomed visitors with open arms by hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony to showcase its recently completed addition. Church members and visitors celebrated the event with food, fellowship and fun, as students of all ages were able to enjoy their new and improved space to learn and grow in their faith.

J&S Construction was contracted to construct a 7,100 square-foot education wing that seam-lessly ties into the facility’s other two existing structures. Major components of the project required demolition of two buildings and construction of the education building that consists of 13 classrooms and two restrooms.

One of the key challenges of this project was to make sure the education wing also allowed for interior ramp and stair access between the existing Worship Building and Fellowship Hall. The ramped access between these buildings ensures persons of all abilities are able to easily access all parts of each facility.

The new addition also includes a large concrete patio which provides a welcoming outdoor gath-ering space for everyone to enjoy.

“I would like to express my pleasure and appreciation of J&S Construction during the addition of our Educational Building,” said Round Lick Baptist Church’s Chairman of the Arise & Build Committee, Alex Piercey. “Everyone that we dealt with was extremely professional and courte-ous and kept the Building Committee informed of all aspects of the project. I would highly recommend J&S Construction to anyone who has a building project coming up.”

Founded in 1803, Round Lick Baptist Church is situated in beautiful Wilson County and offers ministries to members of all ages.

The church believes this project was a vital component to its continued growth, and J&S Construction is proud to have been a part of the team.

National Safety Stand-DownTo Prevent Falls in Construction

Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a lead-ing cause of death for construc-tion employees, accounting for 370 of the 991 construction fatalities recorded in 2016 (BLS data). Those deaths were pre-ventable. The National Safety Stand-Down raises fall hazard awareness across the country in an effort to stop fall fatalities and injuries.

What is a Safety Stand-Down?A Safety Stand-Down is a voluntary event for employers to talk directly to employees about safety. Any work-place can hold a stand-down by taking a break to focus on “Fall Hazards” and reinforcing the importance of “Fall Prevention”. Employers of companies not exposed to fall hazards, can also use this opportunity to have a conversation with employees about the other job hazards they face, protective methods, and the company’s safety policies and goals. It can also be an opportunity for employees to talk to management about fall and other job hazards they see.

Church’s Vision Brought to FruitionFamily Worship Center, located in Murfreesboro, Tenn., needed assistance revitalizing its vision for future growth. As part of our Design-Build services, J&S Construction met with building committee members to help design a new master plan with several phases of construction. This two-phase building expansion included a new parking area and new spacious entryway.

The building committee wanted the look of the facility to convey unity by having the entire facility connected through new addi-tions rather than multiple, stand-alone buildings.

The parking lot expansion included 5,163 square yards of asphalt paving, extruded curbs and additional parking lot lighting.

During the second phase of construction, J&S Construction added a new 2,335 square-foot entryway with a state-of-the-art coffee bar and a guest restroom to the existing sanctuary. The entryway consists of metal studs, brick, EIFS, aluminum windows, acous-tical ceilings, and a mixture of roof materials including metal standing seam and asphalt shingles. The fire sprinkler system was also updated in order to meet the current building codes as well as to prepare the congregation for future growth and expansion.

With hundreds of church construction projects under its belt, J&S Construction has a proven track record of providing specialized services to any congregation through master planning for future growth, additions and renovations to existing buildings and total ground-up construction projects.

Is prayer part of your daily routine, or is it reserved just for seasons of trial? One of the most important factors in handling difficult times is to be a person of prayer before crisis hits. Here are a few reasons to keep up with “peacetime praying.”

1. Peacetime praying builds spiritual momentum. Prayer brings God’s blessing and God’s provision. A praying person lives with the kind of spiritual momentum and favor that only consistent prayer can bring.

2. Peacetime praying produces spiritual intimacy. Prayer brings you closer to God, and you’ll need all the intimacy with God you can get when life’s storms break out.

3. Peacetime praying provides spiritual perspective. Consider these lies: If you had been a better Christian, this never would have happened. You deserve the pain you’re feeling. God’s obviously forgotten about you. Have you ever heard any of these lies?

Peacetime praying girds the heart and mind with the spiritual truths you will need to make it through tough times. Here are a few suggestions to keep con-sistent prayer time with God:

1. Have a regular prayer time. Don’t wonder when or if you’ll get to pray again. Have a set time for prayer and protect it. Be as committed to prayer as you are to meals.

2. Have a regular prayer place. Don’t wonder where you’ll be able to find a quiet place for prayer. Build a location into your discipline of peacetime pray-ing. When your set time for prayer rolls around, be unyielding about staying in your set place.

3. Have a regular prayer plan. Be systematic about your conversations with God. Use your Bible as a daily prayer guide. Open it on any day and have plenty to talk to God about. Should the Spirit choose to lead you to different subjects, try to be sensitive and obedient to that.

Pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. (1 Thessalonians 5:17-19)
