We offer applied science and/or research based study pro-

grammes. Close co—operation with companies in Den-

mark and abroad. And focus on real life problems taken

directly from industry. Our students thrive academically and per-

sonally. Why?

We challenge them by involving them in project work, develop-

ing both their academic and personal skills. Whether on campus or

in a company, students often work in small groups of between two

and four people. This is the preferred method, because it gives stu-

dents the chance of achieving the best innovative results. Companies

worldwide often require their graduate engineers to work in this way.

The faculty is internationally renowned for its expansive research

environment and close links with industry. Research at the facul-

ty varies greatly, from areas such as product design and software

development to advanced robot technology and artificial intelligence.

The Faculty of Engineering has more than 2,000 students and

is highly international, with students from all over the world. As an

engineering student you become part of an informal and inspiring

study environment where it is easy to make new friends. You will

gain considerable practical experience thanks to the faculty’s practi-

cal approach to learning. Classes are small, with often no more than

20 students, so you have time to discuss issues in depth with your

teacher.

tWo CaMPusesThe Faculty administration and four institutes are

placed in Odense and one institute is in Søn-

study envIronMentEvery year more than 1,500 international students from all over the

world choose to study at the University of Southern Denmark, so

you will become part of a lively international student environment.

We believe that engineers of today must have a global perspective

and experience and we encourage international as well as

Danish students to spend one or two semesters abroad an

internship or as exchange students. Faculty of Engineer-

ing has adopted a student—centred approach to learn-

ing and teaching is based on problem based project work.

The faculty is internationally renowned for its expan-

sive research environment and close links with industry.

Research at the faculty varies greatly, from areas such as

product design and software development to advanced robot

technology and artificial intelligence.

PrograMMe struCtureThis is a two—year master programme. To study a master degree in

Chemistry and Biotechnology you must have a relevant bachelor de-

gree (three years of previous study at university level).

We believe that engineers of today must be able to master a glob-

al perspective and we encourage international as well as Danish stu-

dents to spend one or two semesters abroad on an internship or as

exchange students.

an extensive network of public and private institions benefits

directly from researchs at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Thanks to wideranging expertise and significant internation-

alisation, the faculty offers students and researchers the program-

mes required to perform mature and contemporary social analyses.

The theory of society is a relatively new science in perpetual inter-

action with society. Social science is influenced by the society and, on

the other hand, it can influence the society. The Faculty of Social Sci-

ences offers research and programmes of a high standard.

The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Southern Den-

mark has 250 staff members and more than 8,000 students, many

of whom are international and part time students.

tHIs PrograMMe Is oFFered In englIsHThe global development is creating a need for employees with prac-

tical understanding of the integration of IT into business administra-

tion. It will not suffice to rely exclusively on employees with qualifi-

cations limited to the fields of programming, systems maintenance

or traditional business administration. Rather, the enterprises need

employees with additional knowledge of the analytic, business-re-

lated and strategic significance of IT—employees

whose outlook is practical and projectoriented as

well as cross—curricular, involving all members of

the organisation.

To fulfil that need, we have developed an Inter-

national Bachelor Programme in Economics and IT

with all courses taught in English.

This combined programme is characterised by

the following strengths:

¹ The programme is based on a number of

courses and teaching methods that provide

a unique combination of theory and practical

experience.

¹ The programme includes six months of intern-

ship with a business enterprise or organisation.

¹ The programme is divided into modules and

allows for credit transfer to other programmes

in the educational system.

analyze and question at the Faculty of Humanities, the Uni-

versity’s largest faculty with more than 5,000 students across

offers you a vibrant study environment. With leading exper-

tise in public health and an emphasis on multidisciplinary

learning, the faculty enables you to play a key role in the treatment

and prevention of disease.

You can tap into expertise from across the world thanks to the fac-

ulty’s commitment to internationalisation. Teachers come from coun-

tries as diverse ahs the US, Germany, Estonia and the Netherland.

The faculty’s global network of private and public institutions

enables staff and students to engage in international work with lead-

ing health organisations. All these groups are characterized by their

focus on the interaction between several disciplines in order to cre-

ate state—of—the—art research results.

Health plays an important role in most people’s lives.

Master oF sCIenCe In PuBlIC HealtHAn increasing number of children suffers a

lot from overweight and obesity. The aver-

age life expectancy for the Danish popula-

tion is relatively low. Certain groups in our

so called equal oriented society have a rela-

tively short and very disease tormented life.

What are the underlying causes for these

developments— and what can be done to

prevent them?

What can be done to improve health and

well being for all?

The first semester introduces you in core

modules in the art and science of public

health, advanced epidemiology and biosta-

tistics and evaluation methods using prob-

lem-based learning, lectures, project work

and skills training.

WHat WIll our Future BrIng?

Can lifestyles diseases and a decreasing

birth rate put an end to prosperity in Euro-

pean economy? Will global warming it will

bring back malaria to the Nordic coun-

tries? And why does it seem that preven-

tion campaigns have such a limited effect?

Medicine alone can´t treat ill health. Knowl-

edge of economics and society is also need-

ed. Health promotion, or health economics

and management, or global health.

PresenCe, Past and FutureThese and many other questions are dealt

with in the Public Health programme.

A new, dynamic, complex and analyti-

cal branch of health sciences, where policy

is connected with statistics and mathemat-

ics, behavioural sciences with physiology,

anatomy and ethnology, and where envi-

ronmental health is as important as criti-

cal reflections.
