Key Responsibilities : From Jan 2014 till date : Responsible for all Indirect Tax matters in the Eastern Region which presently includes 10 states. Responsibility includes payments and submission of returns, issuance and collection of statutory forms, completion of assessments, filing of appeals if required before the appellate authorities, providing information and clarifications to business in indirect tax matters, etc. Also responsible for Service tax payment and compliance for our operations in Odisha and Professional tax matters in all the states Presently a team member of the taxation group which is overseeing the preparatory actions being taken by the company for implementation GST in the near future Compliance: Leading a team including consultants / advocates for ensuring that all Indirect tax matters are complied with in all the states. Presently working as Manager – Indirect Taxation with Tata Motors Limited and posted at its Regional office in Kolkata, West Bengal. From Aug’89 till April 2005 :

Telco Sales and Service - Bhubaneshwar- Orissa

Finance & Accounts function of TSS, Bhubaneshwar : established process for retail sale, collection and exception based control for company retail outlet.

Receivables management of vehicle sales by TSS, Orissa : This included collection and deposit of payments received from individual customers, Bank Reconciliation and monitoring of outstandings.

Claim processing - Processing of refunds, discounts and interest payments to individual vehicle customers

Sales Tax : Filing of sales tax and entry tax returns of all sales ( vehicles and spares ) from the state of Orissa and personally attending sales tax assessments and hearings.

Imprest accounting of all expenses for the State of Orissa

MIS : Preparation of monthly profitability statement of TSS operations

Administration : Carrying out administrative work of TSS including liasioning with Factory Inspector, Electrical inspector, Environment agencies and Labour Office for renewal of licenses of TSS

Statutory Compliance Ensuring statutory compliance of all operations of TSS, Orissa with government authorities

Major Accomplishments

Independently handling Indirect Taxation matters of 10 states in the Eastern Region Reconciliation of dealer accounts of all 53 dealers in the eastern region and obtaining a ‘no dues

certificate’ from each one of them – This included the reconciliation and settlement of claims of dealers pending since the last 10 years.

Regularly providing ‘single window service’ to our ‘customers’ viz Dealers, with respect to all queries raised by them relating to sales accounts and their account reconciliation

Analyzing and reporting on the financial health of the dealerships and giving timely indications to both the company and the dealerships on the steps to be taken for improving their performance.

Played an important role in the conversion of our sales and accounting records from the ‘legacy’ based system to SAP based system during the year 2000.
