We are in our new building, and renovations are com- plete. It is starting to be rented, and many organizations are utilizing it, Gordon Pipers, Young Marines, Woman Marine Association, 1st Marine Division Association and others. The barracks is quickly becoming a hub of Marine activities, with rental of the hall , meetings, and requests for use of the building for many reasons. With this activity comes the need for members of the detach- ment to be present at the building during these events to chaperone and protect our interests. When the idea was brought before the membership to purchase the build- ing, over 40 members voted to do it. With the purchase of this building came the knowledge that it would re- quire members to step up and help run it. Many have so far donated enormous amounts of time and money to get us to where we are today. Now it is time for other mem- bers to start taking part in maintaining and the everyday operations of our home. If you can give a day once in awhile or a few hours to chaperone an event, such as a wedding, contact me as I am putting together a list of these people. It doesn’t take a great effort, or any physi- cal work, just time. We all wanted the building, and now it is time for ALL of us to work to keep it a reality, not just the same few who are always asked to do something. It comes with your membership, being part of the De- tachment and contributing whatever time you can to support our activities, and it is time for more of us to step forward to lessen the work load on the rest. Commandant-Gary Nasby with CIYM Sgt Major, Teri Crouch at the awards ceremony held at Bright Point, after she received the highest award that a Young Marine can achieve- “The Distinguished Order of Merit”. OOH RAH

Central Indiana Young Marines at their first shoot held at Marine Barracks Indy. This site has been officially designated as a “Civilian Marksmanship Pro-gram” site and for now is being limited to the Young Marines gun club. Thanks to all the hard work, planning and time Marine Tony Mungovan has put into getting this up and going. His efforts are helping to shape to-morrows adults into upstanding citizens. He has set the bar for all Hiram I. Bearss Detachment members to shoot for. I com-mend Marine Mungovan for this. Bravo Zulu, and Semper Fi Ma-rine Gary Nasby– Commandant
