Frequently Asked Questions: SculpSure 1. What is SculpSure?

Sculpsure is a new treatment for non-invasive fat reduction. It is a laser that reduces fat by

heating it. SculpSure is FDA approved for the non-invasive reduction of fat in the abdomen

and in the love handle areas. SculpSure can treat many other areas of fat on the body as

well. Sculpsure treatments result in noticeable and natural looking fat reduction in the

treated areas.

2. Who is the ideal candidate for SculpSure?

Ideal candidates for the Sculpsure procedure have pockets of fat on their abdomen, love

handles, or other areas of their body that cannot be reduced with diet and exercise, and are

near their correct body weight. Sculpsure is especially helpful when the fat bulge cannot be

reduced by diet and exercise alone.

3. What areas can be treated with SculpSure?

The most commonly treated areas are the abdomen, love handles, and thighs. However,

any pocket of fat on the body can be reduced with SculpSure

4. What is the difference between SculpSure and Coolsculpting?

SculpSure reduces fat by heating it for 25 minutes. Coolsculpting reduces fat by freezing it

for 60 minutes. Both treatments remove 20-25% of the fat in the treated areas. However,

in our practice we prefer SculpSure to Coolsculpting because our patients enjoy SculpSure’s

quicker and more comfortable treatment. Also, because the tissues are being heated,

SculpSure has the potential to tighten the skin, whereas CoolSculpting does not have that

potential. In addition, many patients experience numbness of the tissues after

CoolSculpting that can last for up to several months; this does not occur with SculpSure.

5. Is the SculpSure treatment painful?

Sculpsure is not painful. Patients experience heating of the fat tissues, but not to

temperatures so hot that the treatment becomes uncomfortable. Sculpsure is a very well

tolerated procedure.

6. Can I be allergic to SculpSure?

No. Since SculpSure is completely non-invasive, you cannot be allergic to it. In addition,

SculpSure can be used on any skin type and any skin color. Even the darkest skin tones can

safely be treated with SculpSure.

7. Is SculpSure safe? Is there any downtime? What are the risks and complications?

Sculpsure is FDA approved and was found to be completely safe during the FDA approval

process. It is completely non-invasive, which eliminates all of the complications that can

occur with liposuction. In our office, Dr. Anterasian performs all Sculpsure procedures. He

has extensive experience with non-invasive fat reduction procedures and will do a complete

consultation prior to treatment. He will ensure that a prospective Sculpsure patient is a

good candidate for the procedure and can undergo the procedure safely. There is absolutely

no downtime after SculpSure. Patients are able to resume all their normal activities

immediately after leaving the office, including returning to work and exercise programs.

8. Can SculpSure replace a surgical procedure such as a tummy tuck or liposuction?SculpSure

can replace an invasive surgical procedure in patients who have pockets of fat that they

want to get rid of and who are close to their correct weight. Patients who are substantially

overweight are not good candidates for SculpSure.

9. How does the Sculpsure treatment work?

The Sculpsure device is a laser. The laser light is shined on the skin for approximately 25

minutes. During this time the laser light heats the underlying fat and initiates a process that

leads to the loss of fat cells. Results become visible over the next 2 to 3 months.

10. How Many SculpSure treatments are needed to see results?

Many patients achieve their desired results in a single treatment. Some patients who have

more fat will wish to have a second treatment 2-3 months after the first to further enhance

their result. Results look quite natural, and patients are able to achieve their results

without any downtime and without surgery.
