Conclusions and Outlook
January 25th, 2006 SCT DCS Review 3
Status of the Barrel Project
➢ Project started by A. Sfyrla using the JCOP fw
➢ Monitors 4 types of environmental sensors using ELMBs:
humidity, mechanical temp, cooling temp and air (FSI) temp
➢ Also monitors ELMB state to diagnose communication problems
➢ Finally, can monitor parameters (voltages) of the BBIM crate
January 25th, 2006 SCT DCS Review 4
Status of the Barrel Project➢ Panels to read the ELMB
channel values
➢ Tags to identify the
sensors
➢ Graphical View of the
barrels (upper and lower
part for cosmics) – could
be eventually divided into
quadrants
➢ Add geographical view
January 25th, 2006 SCT DCS Review 5
Status of the Barrel Project
➢ Control Panel
➢ Show communication status
with ELMBs and allow soft reset
➢ Graphical View of the barrels
➢ Can be used to configure the
ELMB channels
➢ Toggle the communication with
the PS project for cooling alarms
January 25th, 2006 SCT DCS Review 6
Status of the Barrel Project
➢ Configuration panel
➢ Reads and writes warning and
alarm settings
➢ Load configuration file (adds
info to the DP description)
January 25th, 2006 SCT DCS Review 7
Status of the Barrel Project
➢ The ELMBs sit in a BBIM crate which provides them with power
➢ 3 voltages are monitored by the Envr Project:
PS (BBIM), IboxOpAmp, IboxNOR
➢ Generates message windows as a warning
➢ Still have to determine warning and alarm levels for these voltages
January 25th, 2006 SCT DCS Review 8
Thermal Enclosure Project➢ The barrels will be located inside the Thermal Enclosure
➢ Sensors for humidity and temperature will be placed inside (but not on the
barrels) to calculate dew point for the combined tests (on the CIC CANbus)
➢ Will be using existing project to do this.
➢ Will need minor modifications to be ready for combined test configuration
January 25th, 2006 SCT DCS Review 9
Status of the End Cap Project
➢ No implementation was done yet
➢ Nikhef said they have a rough project which can be used
➢ Idea is to include the Nikhef project with modifications
➢ Should also add graphical views of the EC
January 25th, 2006 SCT DCS Review 10
Setup for Cosmics
➢ 6 ELMBs will be used (see B. Mikulec talk)➢
➢ In total, 155 channels will be monitored, which are:➢ 6 humidity sensors (18 channels)➢ 52 cooling temperature sensors➢ 64 air (FSI) temperature sensors➢ 21 mechanical temperature sensors
➢ Already included in the configuration file ready
January 25th, 2006 SCT DCS Review 11
Setup for Cosmics
➢ We will not be using the conditions and configuration databases
➢ Data will be archived to txt file and then converted into COOL
➢ For final setup, we will need to use COOL (will require 6 kB to
make a full reading of the barrel sensors)
