Hello! My name is Beth Yost and I look forward to starting Practicum.

ABOUT ME

I am a junior at SUNY Potsdam and I am twenty years old. My major is Childhood/Early Childhood Education. My specialization is English. This means that, other than Education classes, most of the classes I take will be about literature, composition, and communication.

I especially love reading and writing. I read everything from non-fiction and mythology to graphic novels. Some of my favorite authors are Neal Shusterman and Mo Willems.

I am looking very forward to reading to children and teaching them how to read and write.

I also enjoy Earth Science and wish to help any students who may be struggling with it. I especially like astronomy.

WHY I WANT TO BE A TEACHER I love working with children. I volunteered as an elementary aide

in a kindergarten class during high school, and I participated in the Literacy Center mentoring program at SUNY Potsdam where I worked with first graders. Both experiences were wonderful!

When I was in elementary school, I adored my teachers. They made learning fun and they made me want to come to school. I want to make learning as fun for other children as it was for me.

Knowledge is very important. It helps us make informed decisions and influences who we are and what we do every day. Elementary education is the first step towards understanding the world and oneself. I hope to be a part of this process.
