Overview of the ScreenPlay Director
• The ScreenPlay Director combines media and networking
The Director can connect to your TV and can connect to your network. You can use it to store your media as well as stream media from network locations.
• The ScreenPlay Director has a new graphical interface
The Director has a dramatically improved graphical interface. Browsing for media with the device is easy and intuitive.
• The ScreenPlay Director is quick and easy to use
The Director can be connected to the network and begin streaming media immediately using the HDMI, Composite or Component connections.

• Supported Audio and Video Formats– Audio formats: MP3, WAV, AC3, WMA, OGG, FLAC – Video formats: MPEG-4 (AVI/DiVX 3.11-5.x/XViD,DiVX 6 SD Only),
MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MP4 (H.264), MKV, WMV and MOV files– HD content is playable as follows:

version supported.
• ScreenPlay Director becomes a Public Shared Location– A simple, public folder will be available automatically when
connected to the network
• Easy Network Discovery– The ScreenPlay Director will be discoverable via a Discovery
application and mapped automatically (for PC and Mac)– The IP Address can be found using the ScreenPlay Director’s

Troubleshooting the ScreenPlay Director
• Manually finding the ScreenPlay Director on a Network:– When the ScreenPlay Director is hooked to a network via Ethernet port
or the wireless dongle, you can verify that it is receiving an IP Address from your network’s DHCP server by looking in the Settings > Network area.
– Select the Status option to show the currently detected network settings including the current IP Address
• ScreenPlay Director cannot provide network access when connected to a PC:– Due to exclusive access to the hardware, when connected directly to a
PC, the ScreenPlay Director interface will be unavailable for the TV and for the Network.
– You must have the ScreenPlay Director unplugged from the PC to be able to use any of the networking and multimedia functions.
• Wireless Support:– The only wireless module supported is Iomega’s 802.11n Wireless
USB Adapter.– This module is available from the Iomega Online Store.

Troubleshooting the ScreenPlay Director
• ScreenPlay Director can be a Stand-alone, Network or USB device– In Network mode, the ScreenPlay Director is a stand-alone network
device and cannot be used as a USB device to transfer files or act as a storage device.
– In USB mode, the ScreenPlay Director can transfer files or act as a storage device, but cannot be attached to a TV and used as a media device in this mode.
– The ScreenPlay Director has a dedicated shared folder that will be accessible as soon as the device is connected to a network and receives an IP Address.
– The ScreenPlay Director does not have to be attached to a network to function as a media device.

General ScreenPlay Product Troubleshooting
• Creating Playlists– Playlists can be created using the remote and TV interface.– Playlists can also be created by some 3rd party software that create .m3u
playlist file. (Compatibility not guaranteed.)
• Supported Video Settings:– Using the Composite connections:
• Standard Definition (SD) and 480i
– Using the Component connections:• High Definition (HD) up to 720p
– Using the HDMI connection:• High Definition (HD) of 480p up to 1080p
(with Automatic Framerate On and media is encoded 1080p24fps)

On Playing Standard Definition and High Definition videos:
• On all ScreenPlay devices with HDMI, lesser video formats will be up-converted to the selected output setting up to 720p or 1080i or 1080p if supported.
• The ScreenPlay Pro HD, ScreenPlay Director and the ScreenPlay Plus will support video encoded at High Definition resolutions. (e.g. 1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080 interlaced)
• The ScreenPlay Director will play at 1080p if the media is encoded at 1080p24fps and Automatic Framerate is On.
• ScreenPlay HD and ScreenPlay TV Link will up-convert Standard Definition videos. (e.g. 720×480 or 720×576) These cannot play High Definition encoded videos.
General ScreenPlay Product Troubleshooting
