This is repulsive. I saw this Pinkus woman campaigning for Lenz, so I’m not surprised to hear

she also designed his campaign fliers. Pinkus is offensive and disgusting. This Nazi-themed

attack looks like it could be covered by the Hate Crimes law. Pinkus should be removed from the

How does Mayor Zimmer get away with saying NOTHING about this outrage? How many days

No one, absolutely no one is holding this fool accountable for her actions. The mayor is

hunkering down waiting for this to run its course and the it back to same old crap. If this

fool was a gentile doing something of this nature all hell would be be unleashed but it

seems like she is a bosom buddy of the mayor all is forgiven. One of things that is wrong

with politics is that no one holds the buffons accountable for his or her actions.

Hoboken crime and fire action: February 17, 2011

2. 4th Ward Guardian

February 17th, 2011 |

That dunce cap fits well on Dave Mello’s head! What a dope! This guy walks around with his

nose in the air like his s**t smells like Chanel. Mello talks down to everybody who lives lower

than his dee-lux apartment in the SkyClub. I guess he thinks he’s too important to get his car

inspected and renew his registration. Nice to see one of the most arrogant, condescending empty

suits in Hoboken get taken down a notch! ROTFLMAO!

5. 4th Ward Guardian

February 18th, 2011 |

DID MELLO GET HIS CAR BACK YET? LOL! Mello’s registration expired AND his

inspection lapsed! Kind of reminds me of an ex-4th ward councilman. Oh, you thought I meant

Campos and his DUI? Yeah, I guess there are similarities there, but I was thinking of Lenz.

Using a cell-phone while driving, accidents, unsafe driving. Quite a guy. I heard Mello was

going to take a Corner Car to work today but all they had was a Smart car and his big head

couldn’t fit.

Uhhh… no. There’s plenty of fat in Zimmer’s 101 million dollar budget. Zimmer is spending 10s

of thousands to send her political cronies to school to learn the jobs she hired them for. Cut some

of that fat and you can fix the teardrop. She’s wasting 10s of thousands on a consultant to be the

temporary Director of Environmental Services after firing Maier. It’s nothing but a waste of

money. Arch Liston’s buddy gets a no-bid, double-dipping contract for two months to do nothing

but take a paycheck. People like you went apes–t when Dave Roberts’ budget jumped to over 70

million, but Zimmer spends 101 million and it’s cool?

In response to Hoboken.gary who said:

Did you forget? The City Council zeroed the budget, there’s no money to fix the 9/11

teardrop. To do that they’d have to raise taxes.

4. 4th Ward Guardian

Nope. Most of them had no real job when they swore allegiance to Mayor Dimmer to get on the

city payroll. Her assistant comptrollers, that Holtzman woman, the Bryan kid. Nothing but

political hacks waiting to jump on the Zimmer payroll. Now they get educated on the public

dime to learn how to do their jobs.

In response to whineanddineinhob who said:

Hope her political cronies aren’t giving up good jobs and benefits they may have had for a little

over a two year stint remaining with this crazed administration. You just have to know for a fact

they will all be replaced again.

Traffic light toppled by tractor

3. 4th Ward Guardian

October 14th, 2010 |

You’re not kidding! Not just Lenz. Tony Soares was on the council from ’99 to ’05 and never

did anything to fix the traffic in his own neighborhood. Lots of talk talk talk but never any

action. Soares and Lenz are like bad pennies. Time for the 4th ward to reject Lenz again!

In response to pham who said:

Update: 4th Ward Park Upgrades

2. 4th Ward Guardian

April 15th, 2011 |

It’s great to see Councilman Occhipinti getting things done for the 4th Ward! The last two

occupants in the seat had over 3 years and did nothing. Tim’s done more for us in 5 months than

both of them combined! Why turn back the block with Mike Lenz, Jr?

4 more years! 4 more years! 4 more years!

9. 4th Ward Guardian

May 2nd, 2011 |

@Stpaddygirl, I think if you check the record you’ll find Tim Occhipinti has been fighting for a

stronger police presence not only in the 4th Ward, but the whole city.

Mike Lenz and Mike Lenz Jr. (Rami) supported Zimmer’s police department cutbacks which

caused this spike in crime. Lenz, Jr. claims there’s no spike in crime! All of the bobbleheads on

the Zimmer slate follow the City Hall party line that there are supposedly more cops on the

streets despite the fact that there were so many retirements that layoffs weren’t necessary. The

force is depleted, and the transfer of cops to the so-called Power Shift at night means fewer cops

to deal with the daytime robberies and home invasions that are on the rise.

By the way, the crime spike is mostly in the 1st and 5th wards. Some crime stats are actually

lower here in the 4th because of the deal to permanently place officers in the HHA. The problem

is they are contractually obligated to stay in the projects, so the rest of the city suffers from the

lack of policing.

In response to Stpaddygirl who said:

It’s nice to see the positive changes in our Ward, fixing street lights, pot holes and I am

glad that people with kids get a play ground all well and good but to be honest I rather

see Occipiniti take a stand on the fact that crime has increased the most in his Ward.

Parks are nice, home invasions not so much. Maybe he can see if some of the police force

can be redeployed to the Southwest part of Hoboken because the only time they were here

was the day of the St. Pats Parade.

competition sparking veterans of the Hoboken pub racket to raise the bar with some re-

investment.

Lenz Loves Lawyer$

3. 4th Ward Guardian

October 12th, 2010 |

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Lenz must go. He doesn’t serve the 4th ward. He only serves

himself.

In response to youme66 who said:

As someone who regrets voting for Dawn Zimmer, last fall was a big wake up call when

Mayor Zimmer appointed Mike Lenz to her 4th ward council seat. Lenz has been in

Hoboken for 20 years and boasts that he has been a 4th ward resident since 1997.

Anyone who knows his history, knows that Mike Lenz hasn’t done anything good for

Hoboken or the 4th ward. Mike Lenz is out for Mike Lenz and any way he can line his

own pockets or acquire more political power. When we talk about Hoboken being broken

and having a dysfunctional government and a nefarious political landscape, Mike Lenz is

Page 6: Screen Name"4th Ward Guardian" Posts on Hoboken411.com- December 18, 2014

6

a huge part of that problem. When Dawn Zimmer became Mayor and made her

alignment with Lenz public, their true sleazy colors were revealed. It’s truly sad that the

same promises Dawn ran on in 2007, flooding and a new SW park, were used again in

her 2009 race, and now in 2010 she is touting Mike Lenz as the guy who will fix flooding

and build a SW park. It’s apparent that it’s all lip service. Lenz and Zimmer tell the

yuppies what they want to hear and they say it convincingly, but Lenz and Zimmer will

tell any lie to get a vote.Dawn Zimmer and Mike Lenz have been representing the 4th

ward for the last three years since Dawn Zimmer was elected in 2007. Neither has

produced anything good for the 4th ward. The flood pump is a plan that was approved of

long before Dawn Zimmer was even elected. Neither Lenz nor Zimmer have done

anything towards building a SW park, not even with Dave Mello (4th ward resident!)

sitting on the Planning Board for the last year. The 4th ward voters, primarily those easily

fooled yuppies, need to wake up and realize that they are being played by the Zimmer

Administration. They promise to lower taxes, build parks, and fix the flooding. Look at

your tax bill, it’s huge. Look at the streets on a rainy day, they still flood, worse than

before. Look at your parks, they are falling apart. Look at the SW corner of Hoboken, no

park and no plans for a park. And remember that Dawn Zimmer did nothing for that

ward for the two years she served as the 4th ward council person and Mike Lenz has

done nothing since being appointed to serve the 4th ward a year ago.A vote for Mike

Lenz is a vote for the status quo, the same old political patronage machine.

Voting by Mail (VBM) – Explained

8. 4th Ward Guardian

April 26th, 2011 |

Vote by Mail is a great innovation that stops fraud. There’s a paper trail with every VBM, which

is why it was so easy for the AG to crack down on fraud in Paterson. Eleven people were

charged with tampering with ballots or voting by mail for people that didn’t authorize it last year.

Only stupid people commit VBM fraud because it’s too easy to get caught. SRM is just repeating

the lies of desperate Hoboken campaigns that can’t win on the issues. SRM has no proof, and

unlike Paterson and other places, no fraud either.

The real fraud happens at the voting booth. Anyone can walk up to the polling place and give a

name with a straight face and vote with no ID. Once they vote, it’s over. You can’t take the vote

off the machine.

In response to SRM who said:

Not to mention that some of the oldtimer candidates still pay $40 for a VBM turned in to

them unsealed.

Got video? Got testimony under oath in a court of law under the threat of perjury? If you do,

bring it to the Attorney General so they can bring the perpetrators to justice. Otherwise keep your

baseless allegations to yourself.

Good people trying to serve the community are being unfairly smeared every day by allegations

like this. Adamc and all the other worshipers of the Mayor should have gotten the message last

night that their hateful lies won’t win elections. Apparently they didn’t. See you on May 10th.

In response to adamc who said:

except for when people walk through buildings telling people who to vote for…sometimes

passing out money along with it. In those cases, it makes fraud much, much easier.

City Council Meeting: 10/20/2010

3. 4th Ward Guardian

October 20th, 2010 |

We only hear about the Southwest Park at election time. Lenz and Zimmer have wasted another

year. The 4th ward gets screwed again. How is it a year ago the council authorized the study, and

we’re only hearing now that there’s been NO PROGRESS WHATSOEVER?

Lenz and Zimmer think we are stupid. They’ve screwed this up because they don’t care. Time to

send them a message on Election Day that the 4th ward is tired of being used and ignored.

Why is voter turnout always so low?

32. 4th Ward Guardian

May 25th, 2011 |

This is a great question, and there are a lot of smart comments on this thread. mcwinterr and

others sum up the general answer well. Lemme take a minute to talk about why the turnout was

so low specifically in the last election. I think the answer is pretty obvious: poor governing

compounded by poor campaigns by the Mayor and her vocal minority.

Page 8: Screen Name"4th Ward Guardian" Posts on Hoboken411.com- December 18, 2014

8

I don’t know what the campaign mail looked like in the rest of the city, but here in the 4th Ward

we got a barrage of libelous filers from Rami Pinchevsky that were ridiculous and unbelievable.

All Rami told us about himself was that he was an actuary (who cares?) and he lives in the

SkyClub where he wants the rest of the city to pay for a playground across the street from his

condo. He also said Dawn Zimmer is a goddess of reform who can do no wrong, and we in the

4th Ward know her a lot better than that.

Tim Occhipinti stayed positive while Rami went so negative he turned off the voters he needed

to be competitive. Rami would have gotten a bigger vote with a positive campaign. He still

would’ve lost, but he would’ve come away from his first election with a stronger showing and

the respect of his adversaries. Instead he just pissed everybody off.

Kurta, Greaney and Lincoln also launched full-on hate campaigns against their opponents. Same

result. The voters they needed stayed home. Jen Giattino’s campaign was focused on building

herself up, not tearing Nino Giacchi down. Guess what? She motivated voters and carried the

day. If Giattino had run the kind of slimefest the four angry men ran in 1, 2, 3 and 4 I think she

would’ve turned off voters and Giacchi would’ve had a better chance to save himself.

Slimefest campaigns suppress votes and are a big reason why voter turnout in Hoboken stinks.

Slimefest campaigns are run by the Mayor and her hateful supporters.

In response to chacha17 who said:

I have always thought that the whole system seems a little f’d up for such a small

geographic area…I think EVERY resident should be able to vote for candiates in EVERY

district (and I am sure that it what the 3 “at-large” seats are for)…here is my logic, if I

live on the line that divides let’s say 3 and 4th ward (living in 3rd) and you know that

your ward is going to be a blow-out you may not waste your time….but if you feel your

vote will count in other wards, you will take 10 minutes out of your day to vote…let’s face

it, issues that face each ward ( for example: flooding in 4th, waterfront develpoment in

1st and 2nd) effect us ALL!!! Fine my vote for Beth Mason in the 2nd or Cunningham in

the 5th may or may not help me when I get in my car on a rainy day and attempt to get

out of town in the SW corner, but I can’t because the flooding all because the 4th ward

elected someone (who i had no say in) who put a 20 story building that contributes to the

situation.you can change the names, wards, issues but in 1 square mile really isn’t that

big when you think about itI could be wrong!

Hoboken SWAT Debacle Continues

573. 4th Ward Guardian

May 2nd, 2011 |

Don’t forget Bill Laney. Word is the NAACP is preparing a Civil Rights case against the city for

suspending him without pay and leaving Sacs alone. Zimmer’s public statement indicting Laney

and whitewashing Sacs are going to be very expensive for taxpayers. Zimmer’s incompetence is

costing us millions.

In response to whineanddineinhob who said:

I agree. And lets not forget Al Arezzo who was terminated without due diligence. It

doesn’t matter whether you like these people or not, the law will be on their side because

of administration stupidity.

582. 4th Ward Guardian

May 2nd, 2011 |

Speaking of old lawsuits (or potential suits) against this Mayor, did the former Zoning Officer

ever sue for getting pushed aside for that Zimmer crony? After nearly 20 years in the system and

scoring #3 on the Civil Service test she was apparently bumped off so Zimmer could hire that

Holtzman woman away from Beth Mason. Cronies-R-Us at Hoboken City Hall.

In response to whineanddineinhob who said:

…….and also Mike Stigliano (puppy store) who had a lease and the property was taken

over when the city garage was moved to Willow and 17th street. The city is full of law

suits which the public just wishes to ignore, has forgotten, or hopes that they just go

away. Not a chance, and there may be nothing left of that promised tax rebate. So much

in holding funds for that rainy day—–it’s here.

588. 4th Ward Guardian

May 3rd, 2011 |

What some people don’t seem to get here is Hoboken’s liability insurance costs are through the

roof because of this stuff, and Zimmer is even worse than Roberts was when it comes to adding

new employee lawsuit fuel to the fire. She has her Business Administrator on a suspension-

without-pay binge designed to squeeze people out of jobs. These are all lawsuits in the making.

Page 10: Screen Name"4th Ward Guardian" Posts on Hoboken411.com- December 18, 2014

10

Don’t be fooled. The insurance companies don’t just write checks for payout after payout and

say “Thank You Sir”. They raise premiums and/or cancel policies. Didn’t Joann Serrano and

George DeStefano each get a half-million bucks in their lawsuits? Lenz even got $180k out of

suing the city. Any truth to the rumor there have been so many employee lawsuits that Hoboken

is now self-insured?

The money is only one part of the equation in the Andriani settlement. Don’t miss the fact that

Zimmer is letting Andriani and Roberts off the hook here.

Short term traffic measure botched

2. 4th Ward Guardian

November 15th, 2010 |

You are right homeworld, but the bad news is since Hoboken411 took that picture the city has

came back and finished painting. Guess what? The lines are no wider or brighter than the dash

pattern laid out in the photo! Compared to the two foot wide Don’t Block The Box lines that you

see in NYC (which were on the city website when Zimmer announced this) the lines are so weak

they’re useless. It’s a metaphor for Hoboken’s executive branch.

That intersection needs a Police detail directing traffic and giving tickets to obnoxious,

aggressive drivers, as well as the NJ Transit buses that block the box with impunity.

In response to homeworld who said:

Those faint dashed lines are usually the precursor to actual striping… So hopefully when

the box is actually striped with the hatching people will heed it. But I doubt it without

enforcement.

8. 4th Ward Guardian

November 18th, 2010 |

Thanks to Councilman Tim Occhipinti for stepping up and actually doing something for the 4th

ward. The appointed guy he replaced never bothered to even ask for the police to help. Lenz

even said during the debate that it would be too expensive to have officers enforcing the law at

this intersection! Good riddance! We finally have a councilman who represents US.

12/1 City Council Meeting: Recap

21. 4th Ward Guardian

December 7th, 2010 |

INcorrectamundo truth1. Now that the 4th ward has an ELECTED councilman chosen by the

people there will be some much needed changes to the way the council does business. The

Zimmer rubber stamps knew this was coming and they don’t like it. Too bad. They had their

chance to make real change and did nothing but politics for the year and a half they were in

control. A new year will bring a new council President and a new budget process.

In response to truth1 who said:

The council should stop acting in their own political interests and work together. That’s

their job, to represent the public and serve in a manner that is in the public’s best

interests……………….Let’s see what the new year brings. Unfortunately, it looks like

much of the same BS……………………………………………………………………..

Hoboken Housing Redevelopment Plan

5. 4th Ward Guardian

May 25th, 2011 |

So who’s writing the 700 million dollar check to make this happen? My guess is nobody. I hope

the HHA didn’t spend good money paying Dean Marchetto to draw this up. He doesn’t work

cheap and I doubt he did it pro bono. Elevators in the projects don’t work and locks are broken,

but the HHA is spending money on a pipe dream. No doubt there are some good ideas here, but

it’s never getting built. Too bad.

Lenz caught on tape (again!)

25. 4th Ward Guardian

October 14th, 2010 |

“If you want to make me a hack I can be a hack”, said Lenz.

Stick Romano’s face is priceless after Pat O’Melia asks Lenz if he “responded to an ad for the

county job” he got through patronage

About 4 minutes in Lenz describes his job as property manager for the county’s meadow view

building complex. O’Melia asks how much experience he has with facility management,

carpentry, plumbing and electrical. Lenz says he was his own General Contractor on his home

renovation, so that qualifies him to run the country complex! You can’t make this stuff up!

O’Melia’s response to Lenz is priceless.

Only O’Melia would have the balls to ask Lenz who went to the Coach House Diner to make the

deal to get him his county job.

Still don’t believe Lenz is a charlatan? Take 10 minutes to watch this video.

In response to Night Watchman who said:

Lenz in his own words: “Political hacks make a living from political. I’ve mostly not

done that.”Mostly? Carol Marsh runs for council and Lenz gets a city job. Marsh runs

for assembly and Lenz gets a county job. While campaigning, Zimmer says Lenz won’t be

appointed to the 4th Ward seat. Last November, Zimmer casts the deciding vote to give

Lenz another city paycheck and full benefits. Michael Lenz, we see you for the political

hack you are.

Tom Greaney’s Bankruptcy Revealed

2. 4th Ward Guardian

April 27th, 2011 |

Stick a fork in Greaney. He’s done! Nice to see another puppet of Mike Lenz take a big fall.

Amazing this guy thought he could get away with lying to people about his finances and

residency records. Looks like he moved back to Hoboken just to run for council. What a dope.

Might as well start packing your bags for the next move outta town now Tommy.

36. 4th Ward Guardian

May 5th, 2011 |

Congratulations bmacqueens. Tom Greaney just lied to your face. You’re certainly not the first

this has happened to, and won’t be the last before the election, but you got the answer that his

damage control team cooked up for you.

Listen, I’ve read your posts and I think you’re probably a pretty earnest person. We differ on

Hoboken politics but you’re definately a guy I’d have a beer with. You look at the Mayor and

see the glass half-full, while I see it half-empty, but I think you come to your conclusions

honestly and aren’t like the dirty dozen trolls for Dawn who blog all day and all night in service

of their Queen. I think I know her a little better than you because she is my neighbor and was my

councilwoman, but so be it.

That’s why I ask you to consider this. Why would Tom Greaney tell you, a guy on the street he

just met, that “the credit card debt was for a consulting business that he tried to launch but wasn’t

as successful as hoped” but wouldn’t tell Ray Smith of the HobokenReporter the same thing?

Would you possibly consider that he didn’t tell Ray Smith that it was business related because

that is actually a blatant lie, and nothing more than the answer his political consultants came up

with when it became clear that he really, really needed to have an answer for this question during

his campaigning?

Think about it bmacqueens. It took Greaney 5 days from when Hoboken411 reported the

bankruptcy to when Ray Smith finally got him to talk about it for Greaney to even admit that it

happened, and when he did he refused to talk about the specifics! Why would Greaney refuse

to talk about the specifics if it was true that he ran up the debt trying to start up some consulting

business? That’s the hallmark of someone who is hiding the truth, and telling you – the random

potential voter – what he thinks you want to hear.

I would bet you your quarterly taxes that had you asked Greaney for evidence that this

“consulting business” ever existed – a registration statement, business card, tax return… – that he

would have nothing to show you. Ask yourself why after running up $43,000 in credit card debt

would Greaney flee to Japan? You’ve been had.

Page 14: Screen Name"4th Ward Guardian" Posts on Hoboken411.com- December 18, 2014

14

As for why he left Hoboken, I really don’t think it matters, and not any of our business if he had

a bad breakup. I think it is our business to know a lie when we see it, and Greaney lied when he

repeatedly told people he had “a decade of Hoboken community involvement” and had “lived in

Hoboken since 2003″. Since he moved out in 2005 and didn’t move back until 2010, it’s clearly

a lie.

I’ve been lied to enough by Hoboken politicians. When Dawn Zimmer told me she only wanted

to be the 4th Ward councilperson and had no interest in politics, she got my vote. Then she

ignored the 4th Ward and ran for Mayor. Dawn Zimmer is a liar, and so is Tom Greaney. Don’t

make the mistake I did and vote for a liar. You’ll regret it later and work twice as hard to get rid

of the liar.

In response to bmacqueens who said:

I got to meet Greaney today for the first time, very briefly before jumping on the bus to go

to work. He was very friendly. I did ask him very point-blank about (1) the bankruptcy

and (2) the moving around. He didn’t beat around the bush and answered me straight-

up.His answers:

(1) the credit card debt was for a consulting business that he tried to launch but wasn’t

as successful as hoped(2) left Hoboken because of “personal reasons” but he

continuously maintained his social connections here; the inflection in his voice and his

demeanor suggested to me that it may have involved a breakup of a relationship – maybe

I read too much into it, but at least that’s the impression that I gotSo, for what it’s worth

… there’s your explanations. Personally, I find the answer to (1) to be OK by me – many

people have used credit cards to try to launch a business. It’s not a good way to get your

start-up capital, but it is a way nonetheless. At least it’s a better explanation than

running up a bill on cheap booze, fast women and slow horses (although that might be

quite admirable as well). But, being serious for a moment – I find it at least better that

the debt was for a failed business than for spending it on tchotchkes and bling. And there

you have it. Your answers. Do with it as you will.

Folks, can we lighten up on the personal invective against bmacqueens here? I’m glad he shared

his experience with Greaney with us. It gives us the chance to explain exactly why and how

Greaney was lying. Fleshing out the truth here may help other people with similar contact with

Greaney understand what’s really going on here. The 2nd Ward has a desperate candidate

repeating a well-rehearsed sob story which is obviously false. If it was true he would have either

A) Came clean with the story months ago when he kicked off his campaign

B) Came clean with the story when Hoboken411 broke the details of the hidden bankruptcy

C) Came clean with the story when Ray Smith called him (he refused to give details)

Page 15: Screen Name"4th Ward Guardian" Posts on Hoboken411.com- December 18, 2014

15

Instead he’s selling this story to voters who ask about it because he needs to have an answer, and

this one sounds like it would cause less damage. It’s a lie created by political consultants for

damage control. Nothing more, nothing less.

I obviously don’t live in the 2nd Ward, but I know my former councilwoman well enough to

know the LAST thing Hoboken needs is her having a super-majority of bobbleheads following

her every whim on the council. Now more than ever Hoboken needs a balance of power in its

government.

interest rates. Instead I was standing with all these hardworking commuters who go to

work every day to pay their bills, and who I recognize in Hoboken for as long as I can

bmacqueens I have defended you on this thread, but nobody wants to get into an off-topic

bickerfest about who would be a better Mayor than Zimmer. This election on Tuesday is NOT

about who would be a better Mayor than Zimmer. It’s about who would be the best

Councilperson in each of 6 wards. That’s all that matters today. Zimmer is not on the ballot.

Perhaps secondary to that would be the question of whether it makes any sense at all to return

absolute control of City Government back to Zimmer or maintain a separation of powers so her

abject incompetence doesn’t completely flush our city down the toilet.

Two days before the council election I honestly couldn’t give a rat’s ass about who is going to

run for Mayor in two years. I have no beef with Beth Mason, who I’ll be forever grateful to for

helping us defeat that patronage pig Mike Lenz here in the 4th Ward. That doesn’t mean I’m

ready to vote for her for Mayor. I don’t know who the choices will be in 2013 or even if she’ll be

among them. If it’s straight-up Zimmer vs. Mason count me all in for Mason, but I don’t know

who else is going to step up between now and then.

I’m happy to see new blood stepping up to run for office in Hoboken. 10 years ago would

anybody guess that our government would look the way it does today? Nope. It’s too soon to be

Page 16: Screen Name"4th Ward Guardian" Posts on Hoboken411.com- December 18, 2014

picking Mayoral candidates now. There are 50,005 people in Hoboken, and I bet about 40,000 of

them would be a better Mayor than Dawn Zimmer.

Who knows bmacqueens. Maybe I’ll vote for you in 2013.

In response to bmacqueens who said:

It is rather fascinating, in an discouraging way, that 48 hours later, on neither this thread

nor on the original SWAT thread, has any Zimmer-Hater bothered to respond to the

invitation to propose a different person for the Mayor’s office, and lay out the credentials

and experience that make such other person the better choice. This failure to lay down

your cards is pathetic. If you hate Zimmer so much, at least have the intestinal fortitude

to have a better choice waiting in the wings. And, to be blunt, considering the fact that

most of the Zimmer-Haters seem to be Pro-Mason, your failure to boost Mason is even

more pathetic.Let me make the argument for you. Mason is smart, well-educated, has a

long business career before entering politics. She understands money, politics and

competing economic interests.There. That wasn’t so difficult. Why couldn’t a single one

of you muster those two sentences?

Opposition grows to Impound Lot proposal

7. 4th Ward Guardian

May 3rd, 2011 |

Great to see my Councilman Tim Occhipinti standing up to protect downtown neighborhoods by

co-sponsoring this resolution. Credit is also due to Dave Mello who went on the record opposing

this stupid plan. Mello has an independent streak, but he doesn’t show it often enough for me.

The last time I saw it was when Mello voted in favor of appointing Frank Raia to the North

Hudson Sewerage Authority Board.

@HoneyDoofus, this is not a parking proposal. This is an Impound Lot proposal. There’s a huge

difference which will effect the 4th and 1st wards. It’s spelled out for you in Tim and Terry’s

resolution:

Page 17: Screen Name"4th Ward Guardian" Posts on Hoboken411.com- December 18, 2014

WHEREAS, vehicles towed without the owners consent often sound loud anti-theft alarms while

being towed, tow trucks are often equipped with noisy diesel engines and loud reverse gear

transmission warning devices, and operate towing devices with the use of chains that are very

loud when crashing against the metal of a tow truck during normal operation of the release of a

towed vehicle; and

WHEREAS, towing and impounding of vehicles is an activity that often takes place at all hours

of the night, when residents reasonably expect peaceable sleep, and the administration has put

out bid specifications for towing services that specifically note the 24/7 aspect of said towing and

impound services; and

WHEREAS, relocating impound lot activities from the industrial far northwest of the City to the

residential southern section would be contrary to the health, safety and welfare of its residents

and severely impact the quality of life of several hundred taxpaying citizens through activities

that are clearly in conflict with the stated goals of the Hoboken Master Plan.

Therefore, sticking 3500 towed cars in a residential neighborhood is a stupid idea!

Lenz in his own words: 2001

11. 4th Ward Guardian

October 26th, 2010 |

Lenz likes to talk about how long he’s lived in the 4th ward, but he hasn’t done anything for us

in all the time he’s been here. Michael’s political activities have always been about himself, not

the 4th ward.

Just read that 2001 announcement of his 4th ward priorities. No mention of flooding or parks! He

does talk about his political involvement, including his run as Davey Roberts’ campaign

Page 18: Screen Name"4th Ward Guardian" Posts on Hoboken411.com- December 18, 2014

manager. Look how he kisses Roberts’ ass in that letter. Lenz doesn’t mention the $13,000 he

was paid. He was no volunteer.

When Lenz ran in 2001, Tony Soares said, “Lenz would run for Dog Catcher if he thought it

would give him leverage.” That run was all about leverage to get a public job. Today he has

TWO public jobs with $100,000 combined income, benefits and pension.

27. 4th Ward Guardian

October 18th, 2010 |

Did somebody say HOLTZMAN? Did you get GARY Holtzman’s email for Mike Lenz over the

weekend? It went something like this:

From: Gary Holtzman

Date: Fri, Oct 15, 2010

Subject: Mike Needs our Help so Ann can keep her job!

Yes, there is another election in our lovely little town; and because Dave Mello went back on his

word and agreed to appoint Mike Lenz to the 4th ward seat, Dawn Zimmer is about to lose her

council majority. The 60% of Hoboken who supported Beth Mason, Frank Raia, and Kim Glatt

last fall have finally wised up and come together behind one candidate in the 4th ward: Tim

Occhipinti.

Allowing the 4th ward to actually elect it’s own chosen councilperson rather than let Dave and

Dawn simply reappoint Mike, will dramatically squelch the Zimmer administration’s ability to

fail to deliver on it’s Southwest Park promise, waste money on bogus studies for flood sensors,

and place more big campaign contributors and bloggers on public boards.

To continue these good efforts (and make sure somebody has my wife Ann’s back when Ginger

sues the city to be reinstated), is why Mike Lenz needs our help in the remaining 18 days until

the election.

There are more voters in the 4th ward who would support Tim but we all know too well that

Dawn’s “locked in” vote is not going to come out in force for Mike. I mean, just look at them.

Mike lost some weight (Mazel Tov) but he ain’t no Dawn Zimmer! Since its a pay day for my

Page 19: Screen Name"4th Ward Guardian" Posts on Hoboken411.com- December 18, 2014

19

wife Ann (the new Zoning Officer) we need to reach every potential vote out there with as many

lies as possible.

This seemingly small & unimportant ward race is too important for my family’s personal

finances to let the 4th ward voters get to choose their next councilperson. Sure, it’s starting to get

colder, but that doesn’t mean people are running out to buy new leather coats. That’s a problem!

The campaign is going out to talk to voters at their homes every Saturday and Sunday whether

they like it or not. Joe Vas isn’t writing any more street money checks for Mike to hand out and

Tony Soares keeps chasing people away from the campaign headquarters, so anything YOU can

do to help out would be great.

Have no time to volunteer? Me either! I did my part. I sent this email out! Maybe I’ll bring my

porkpie hat over to HQ once or twice to get some info for the next time I stop in to Theresa

Castellano’s store. Hey, I gotta play nice with everybody. You’ll never know who I’ll be with

next!

See you on the campaign trail (if you happen to walk by my house in the 1st ward.)

Gary M. Holtzman

P.S., Yes, the above is satire, but it’s a lot closer to the truth than the spam Holtzman sent out to

his list.

Developers return favor to Mike Lenz: Update

2. 4th Ward Guardian

October 26th, 2010 |

Quid Pro Quo? LENZ MUST GO!

How can people who claim to be reformers support this guy? He pushes the kind of height

variance that ruins the charm of Hoboken neighborhoods and gets $1000 in return from the

developer! If Cammarano had done the same thing people would be marching on his house and

demanding he resign. (As a matter of fact, they did!)

The green sheets of trash Lenz is littering my mailbox are filled with lies and innuendo about

what his opponent will do if elected. This is a desperate man trying to hold his power, as well as

his double-dipping $100,000 public salaries, benefits and pension. He will take money from

anybody (including developers) to keep his gravy train rolling down the track.

Quid Pro Quo? LENZ MUST GO!

5. 4th Ward Guardian

October 26th, 2010 |

Good question. An even better question is why did Dave Mello and Ravi Bhalla felt Dan

Tumpson was right that the height variance was wrong and should be overturned.

Just look at the before-and-after photos in that gallery. A 2-story building and a great street tree

are destroyed so a greedy developer can build a massive 4-story building made of cheap cinder

blocks in between two 3-story buildings that conform to the Zoning laws.

This was all about profit. An additional story means two more units to sell. The developer gets

his variances, Lenz gets $1000 from the developer! Just follow the money!

Quid Pro Quo? LENZ MUST GO!

In response to camel2 who said:

What were his justifications for not reversing the variance?

11. 4th Ward Guardian

October 27th, 2010 |

The pro-Lenz people are awful silent on this one. I guess it obviously stinks so much that even

Quid Pro Quo? LENZ MUST GO!

14. 4th Ward Guardian

October 27th, 2010 |

Deflect.. Deflect… Deflect… That’s all ya’ got. Lenz is off taking $1000 campaign contributions

from developers he gave height variances to and matt_72 tries to make an issue of people paid

$40 to hand out campaign literature and wear T-shirts. Pathetic.

Matt_72 doesn’t live in the 4th ward, but if he did he would see the people I see from both

campaigns out every day getting the message out for their candidates. The difference is Lenz’s

workers won’t show up on his ELEC form until AFTER the election.

Page 21: Screen Name"4th Ward Guardian" Posts on Hoboken411.com- December 18, 2014

21

Remember Lenz’s 2001 ELEC form – which showed up the web 9 years later – showed dozens

of people listed as “Street Money” workers. How come Mike Lenz isn’t explaining why he is

taking money from developers he gave a height variance to?

Quid Pro Quo? LENZ MUST GO!

In response to matt_72 who said:

Most of us who support Lenz are nowhere near as worried about what was in Lenz’s

financial report as the 16 pages of people who almost all requested absentee ballots and

got checks for $40 from Tim’s campaign. That report Tim filed was truly scary. I

personally expect number of “campaign workers” who requested absentee ballots and

were cut checks by Tim’s campaign to rise from almost 80 to several times that amount.

And correct me if I am wrong, but the election is next week, right? So WHY are these

people getting paid $40 a pop 2 weeks before election day? And why is it those checks

started getting issued 2 days after the absentee ballots were sent out in the mail?Anyone

here care to comment on that? Talk about quid pro quos.

18. 4th Ward Guardian

October 28th, 2010 |

Quid Pro Quo? LENZ MUST GO!

Now we find out Lenz met with the 226 Park developer BEFORE the council held it’s hearing

on whether to overturn the variances? Outrageous! How can anyone who calls themselves a

reformer support this guy? What other deals has he done in diners?

Quid Pro Quo? LENZ MUST GO!

26. 4th Ward Guardian

October 28th, 2010 |

It’s a reasonable question. I think the answer is yes, it is the same IF Lenz arranged a Quid Pro

Quo during his lunch with the developer. Cammarano didn’t go to jail because he accepted a

cash campaign contribution/ELEC violation. He went to jail for Extortion Under Color of

Official Right.

In simple terms it means Cammarano held a position of official power that allowed him to

improperly solicit and receive payment in exchange for his agreement to support the developer’s

project variances. The payment in exchange for the promise of official misconduct constitutes

Extortion Under Color of Official Right.

Page 22: Screen Name"4th Ward Guardian" Posts on Hoboken411.com- December 18, 2014

22

If a meeting was arranged with Lenz specifically for a developer to discuss/negotiate Lenz’s

official support for a variance in exchange for something, then that is exactly like what

Cammarano did, no matter the amount of money discussed in consideration.

At the very least the whole thing stinks, the meeting was inappropriate (if not outright illegal)

and Lenz’s silence on the story speaks volumes about what happened here.

In response to chacha17 who said:

is this situation really the same as camarrano’s? lenz accepted $1000 as a LEGAL(ish),

it really just the power trip that goes along with being Public Safety Director, or have they also

Zimmer/Lenz supporters bashed Alicea hard when his wife ran against Kids First and he ran with

Not only did Mason deny it, she lit into him about his claims about picking her council slate. She

was pretty pissed and didn’t pull any punches. Russo also admitted he lied about the Mason thing

and was just trying to puff himself up in front of a campaign contributor and some leeches who

operate in county political circles.

You see the classic Zimmer fan double standard at work here with Honeydoofus. Russo was 34

I saw an old friend at Biggies yesterday who’s daughter graduated this week. He was at the

ceremony and confirmed the Hoboken411 account. The boos started all over the room and

quickly got louder as people felt they suddenly had a rare opportunity to let Zimmer know how

they feel about her. I asked if he thought there was any one reason why the booed, and he said it

could be one of a hundred. He said lots of Hoboken people are still disgusted with how Zimmer

berated Father Vinny on the steps of St. Ann’s. Others are tired of being called corrupt just

because they don’t support her and her little band of crazy kool aid drinkers. The Zimmer cult is

getting smaller ever day. The world class butt-whuppin’ Ruben Ramos gave to Ravi Bhalla

New Blue Recycling Bins in Hoboken

4. 4th Ward Guardian

July 15th, 2011 |

The next Mayor will go back to the old system. Single stream is the brainchild of some uptown

do-gooders who put on green cocktail parties the Mayor and her suckups go to. There’s no

savings here. Don’t believe the hype. When it comes to paper and cardboard single stream is a

scam. The paper gets encrusted with broken glass and other gook making it poor quality for

recycling. Hoboken will be paid less for the paper it recycles and get charged back for poor

quality.

The trucks have to travel much further to go to a single stream facility that isn’t even open at

night! The amount of wasted energy and added pollution outweighs the benefits. Single stream is

a suburban system that doesn’t work as well in urban multi-family areas like Hoboken. Many

apartment buildings aren’t following the new procedures. All sorts of junk are getting mixed into

the stream including bags in spite of the new rules that say no bags. Hoboken taxpayers are

getting charged back for all of it.

You know why the Mayor really agreed to it? Because soon there will be compliance inspectors

hired (patronage) and put on the streets checking cans and issuing tickets for a brand new

revenue stream. If you like the Parking Utility you’ll love the recycling fines. It’ll be like the

HPU meets Goodfellas at your garbage can.

Got bags in your recycling can? Zimmer says, “F— you! Pay me!”

Somebody put dog s— in your can? Zimmer says, “F— you! Pay me!”

Didn’t rinse your beer bottles before putting them on the curb? Zimmer says, “F— you! Pay me!

State: Zimmer violates Public Contracting Law 16. 4th Ward Guardian

February 22nd, 2011 |

Well, well, well, what do we have here? The state sniffing around Zimmer’s contracts. What a

surprise! How is it a best practice for the city to hire the partner on a law firm to oversee

$200,000 in hourly billing for the same law firm? That was all Zimmer. No amount of Melli spin

is gonna get around that.

No suprise how Zimmer’s people are trying to place blame on Tripodi, but no answers on why

Zimmer and Cunningham pushed so hard for the high bidder on the Auditor contract that the

state says wasn’t awarded in a Fair and Open process. So much for transparancy.

17. 4th Ward Guardian

@HoneyDew, Zimmer had all the power as acting Mayor as Cammarano had as Mayor. She

hired and dismissed directors and ran the city from August until November the same way she did

after she got a 40% minority to elect her. She was paid the full $120,000 a year as the Acting

Mayor.

The law says in the event the elected Mayor resigns/steps down the Council President assumes

the position immediately. The City Council can elect any eligible city resident to be Interim

Mayor until the election. Zimmer’s allies controlled the council, so they chose to have their cake

and eat it, too by keeping her in both jobs. If they had elected her Interim Mayor she would have

had to give up her council seat, but would have remained Mayor. They used a loophole to keep

her in both spots.

An acting CEO doesn’t have the sweeping legal power invested in them by NJ law that the

acting Mayor does. There’s no comparison.

Here’s my question about dual job holding. If she was only the acting mayor because she

have also replaced her as mayor? I don’t understand how she could resign from the

council if that was the only thing allowing her to be acting mayor?I also know that the

acting CEO at my company had no teeth. So I will give her a pass until she was elected in

November. But I really don’t know what mayor’s do, so maybe I’m not making a fair

comparison.

Former Public Safety Director Sues Zimmer

17. 4th Ward Guardian

What a surprise! Dawn Zimmer is lying to us again!

Don’t be fooled by her press release. This isn’t news to the Mayor. She knew what she was

getting into with Alicea and gladly signed on for two reasons. First, she needed his influence for

the elections. Lenz needed Alicea to walk him through the projects. Second, she needed a buffer

between her and her husband and Chief Falco. Her husband hates Falco because of the way he

believes the HPD botched the investigation of his father’s hit-and-run death on Sinatra Drive

(may he rest in peace).

Alicea couldn’t deliver the vote for Lenz, who actually had a better shot than the snotnose kid

she put up to run against Occhipinti in May. The police contracts have been settled and if Alicea

can’t deliver a vote he’s of no use to Zimmer anymore, so BANG he’s gone, and Dawn gets to

play Sergeant Schultz again. “I knew noth-ing! Noth-ing!”.

@elvisroberts, you’re wrong about Zimmer “inheriting” Alicea from Roberts. Alicea wasn’t part

of Davey’s team. He came on board as PSD with Cammarano. Alicea’s been playing the political

game here for decades. He ran for City Council and Board of Ed. His wife Wanda was on the

Board of Ed. Alicea made deals with Anthony Russo and he made deals with Dave Roberts

before making deals with Dawn Zimmer.

In response to elvisroberts who said:

let’s not forget Da Mayor INHERITED this guy from Sloppy Dave Roberts… What would

YOU have done as the new Mayor: fire some guy with “Public Safety” in his title, on his

business card, and on his door?. Fire this guy who also represents a sizable and

connected Voter base? No, of course you wouldn’t fire him. You recognize him

immediately for the tool that he is, though almost untouchable, and then watch… and

observe…. and watch… and soon it all comes crashing down on him under his own

corrupt and lazy instincts. Then you sweep him out with a broom… I’m starting to think

the best thing that’s happened this election season is the JERSEY STING being published,

and Dose Guys coming to Hoboken for a book signing. THANK YOU!!!!

Angel’s no angel and karma’s a bitch. Lenz is to blame. He put his own interests ahead of the

city’s when he talked Zimmer into keeping Alicea on board just so he would campaign with him.

I have bad news for you Mayor. The public is catching on to your political games. You look just

as bad as the rest these days. That must make you nuts. Too bad, so sad.

Zimmer’s School Board Choice Arrested

8. 4th Ward Guardian

May 7th, 2011 |

Real classy that both this guy and his lady had outstanding warrants. Way to vet your candidates

Zimmer! He’s not the first bad choice the Mayor’s made. Let’s review:

Zimmer picks Hector Claveria for the Housing Authority, he leaves after being accused of

bribery in office.

Zimmer picks Ian Sacs for the HPU, he gets arrested and accused of theft and harassment after a

scuffle with an employee.

Zimmer and Sacs hire a kid for the HPU who gets arrested for allegedly demanding sandwich

bribes from deliverymen.

Zimmer picks Lenz to be her 4th Ward councilman, he greases the wheels for a developer’s

variances and ends up with $1000 in his campaign account and scams us by switching his health

insurance to the city plan, pocketing $4500 and costing us $25,000!

Zimmer picks Greaney to run for 2nd Ward, he gets caught hiding a $43,000 bankruptcy and lies

about how long he’s lived in Hoboken.

Zimmer picks Pincus for the Zoning Board, who spews Hitler filth at her political opponents.

Zimmer screams and yells at a priest on the steps of his church, but lucky for her the priest

doesn’t press charges.

Do I need to go on? Let’s not give Dawn Zimmer even more power to screw up by voting for her

bobblehead candidates on Tuesday! Move Hoboken ahead by NOT voting for her bobbleheads!

Homemade Pizza Company – Doomed

11. 4th Ward Guardian

May 5th, 2011 |

This concept smells of trust fund babies with too much time on their hands testing wacky ideas

in the marketplace. Why would I want to get off the PATH, walk up the avenue to this place,

order large, oddly shaped raw food that I have to then carry home to the 4th Ward where I have

to turn on and warm up my oven and cook it before I can eat it?

How about I get off the PATH, order a pizza, walk home and get there two minutes before the

deliveryman hands me a nice, piping hot pie for the same price? I’m with joey on this one.

DOOMED.

vote in May even stronger than we did in November for OUR councilman Tim Occhipinti!

The dirty tricks campaign won’t work because Tim is putting the 4th Ward first and getting

things done. Tim got NJTransit to re-route the buses! Tim got us a a new stop sign! Tim is

forcing Zimmer to move forward on buying land for a Southwest Park! Lenz had a year and did

nothing for us. Pinchy is a lackey for Lenz and Zimmer who can’t compete with Tim on the

the real Ravi Bhalla. Judge him by his actions, not his words.

In response to oceanbloo who said:

This is beyond trivial, but I have to admit it has affected my impression of Bhalla in a

negative way. I was holding the door open for some small children in a building, and he

impatiently walked in front of them into the building (when he could have taken a

different door – it was just easier for him to walk into a door being held by someone

else). The action was so blatantly selfish and rude that I can’t shake it from my mind

whenever I see him. Especially because he has a young child himself. If you’re a public

figure, I think you need to be very conscious of the fact that certain acts can affect you

both negatively and positively. And whatever empty words come out of your mouths will

never cover up the actions in which you engage.

Charge: Illegal PAC funds Zimmer’s slate

14. 4th Ward Guardian

May 5th, 2011 |

Looks to me like the election laws are clear and Zimmer’s group violated the law. HoneyDoofus

is trying to take the thread off-topic because HoneyDoofus doesn’t want us discussing the merits

of the case against this PAC and the OBVIOUS and ILLEGAL coordination going on between

Zimmer’s candidates and the Zimmer PAC in violation of the law.

Read the full complaint. There are a lot of smoking guns, and if the AG and ELEC actually call

people in for questioning under oath there are going to be a lot of people taking the 5th. How

much more obvious can it be that all the candidates — especially Kurta and his pal Prigot —

were in on the creation of this PAC illegally and have coordinated their campaigns with it in

violation of the law. Anybody who doesn’t get it is too lazy to read the complaint, or too

corrupted by Zimmer’s green Kool-Aid.

Council Meeting: 7/1/2011

3. 4th Ward Guardian

July 1st, 2011 |

@Journey, of course you’re right that there have often been July 1 reorganization meetings

following elections. The point you miss is these meetings are designed for reorganization and

adjournment, not jamming two years worth of unpopular ordinances and resolutions into a

meeting when nobody is watching.

Did you look at the agenda? Dawn Zimmer is front loading a crapload of bad legislation to be

approved in a final vote on July 20th. She wants it all lost in the hubub of the July 4 weekend and

the pomp and circumstance of a swearing in. By the time anybody wakes up to see what’s going

on here it’ll be September.

For crying out loud, Zimmer wants to extend her own term of office six months with just a

majority vote of her city council bobbleheads! Of course she is going to do this in July. If she did

it in October there would be a line of people screaming bloody murder. Only in Hoboken can

60% of the voters reject the policies of a Mayor who is now putting pedal to the metal to jam

them through anyway. Recall, anyone?

In response to Journey who said:

Lets see.In 2007 on July 1st the recently elected members of the city council were sworn

in. It was Sunday. This site had a summary. In 2009 on July 1st (Wednesday) the city

there is no real pattern, but I see a pattern. If the city council always has a meeting on

7/1 this not so surprising.

Many Hoboken sounds are external

3. 4th Ward Guardian

March 23rd, 2011 |

I have great respect for all First Responders, especially the EMTs that save lives every day. I’m

grateful Hoboken has a Volunteer Ambulance Service that helps keep costs low and understands

the balance required for safety and the need to keep noise levels down. The serve us well because

they ARE us. They live here and deserve our support.

HOWEVER, with all due respect to xtreme it needs to be said most of these out-of-town

ambulances couldn’t give two hoots about how much noise they make in Hoboken. In fact, I

wouldn’t be surprised if some of these West New York and Union City ambulance drivers

actually get off on it. “Hey! Watch this yuppie in the crosswalk jump out of her skin!

BBBBWWWOOOOP BBWWWWOOOOP!”

The dirty little secret is most WNY and UC ambulances coming down the viaduct and up Willow

(or through the 4th Ward via Paterson and 1st) to HUMC are carrying un-insured, non-critical

patients using the HUMC Emergency Room as their Doctor’s office. If someone’s really injured

and needs urgent care in WNY or UC they’re transported to Jersey City or North Bergen

hospitals better equipped to handle trauma.

There’s no need for West New York and Union City ambulances to be blaring their sirens in

Hoboken to transport patients who don’t need urgent attention. Just because they’re in a hurry

doesn’t mean they need to blow through intersections like the ambulance in the video. They do it

down here in the southwest just like they do it uptown.

The last thing Hoboken needs is another Lenz puppet on the Board of Education! I just read

Feinstein’s Lenz endorsement letter again. Either this guy is oblivious to Lenz’s dirty dealing or

just has no problem with it. I wonder if Feinstein knows how much Ro Markle hates the charter

schools and how she and Superintendent Carter jerked Hoboken Charter around?

28. 4th Ward Guardian

April 27th, 2011 |

I’m not surprised Zimmer is trying to pull a scam like this. Here in the 4th Ward there are many

stories of Zimmer supporters who moved out town but came back on election day to vote for her

and her candidates. She knows it takes several years to get names of people who moved off of

the voter rolls and they can always come back to vote without showing their new ID.

Many people who supported Zimmer in 2007 moved out of Hoboken. Some of them come back

to vote. There was even a story a few years ago of her former campaign manager being accused

of trying to vote in the 4-2 district despite the fact that he and his wife move to the ‘burbs. He

was busted by the challengers, but it’s not an isolated incident.

In response to NickAdams who said:

So far I have received two “robo calls” urging me to vote in the Hoboken school board

elections. One was from Dawn Zimmer and one from Kids First. What makes this

noteworthy is that I ended my long exile in Hoboken and moved back to New York last

June! The calls were made to my new home phone # in a 347 area code ( I know, the

indignity of a 347 #, not even a 718!) in Brooklyn! How ridiculous! How did they even

get this #??? From my Brooklyn voting place???? I didn’t forward my old Hoboken # to

this #. I also received a mailing addressed to my Brooklyn address (not forwarded) to

vote for Zimmer’s choice for council members. How can they be mailing these things out

of state??? “Mayor Dawn Zimmer & Her Team are moving Hoboken ahead”. What a

joke. Really makes me wonder how many other ex Hobokenites received these mailings

and calls and if any of them plan to go back to Hoboken to vote! I lived in Hoboken from

1984 until June 2010. Despite some improvements like the new parks on the water, …oh

yeah, …I forgot, ….they are falling into the Hudson….nevermind about them…despite

some OTHER real improvements which escape me at the moment, uhm, I know there are

some….all in all, I liked Hoboken a LOT better in 1984.

campaign! The victory was overwhelming both on the machines at the polls and the overall total.

The Mayor and her bobblehead Rami were beaten by a 2-to-1 margin in the 4th Ward! Go Tim!

@oceanbloo — Charter Schools are Public Schools. They just aren’t controlled by the Board of

Education. They’re funded by the state through the local district. The winner you’re referring to

also has a child in the district. As for one winner having no kids, did you vote for that obnoxious

bully Leon Gold last year? Guess what? No kids. You were saying?

ON TO MAY 10th!

In response to oceanbloo who said:

One of the winners has a child in a charter school, not a Hoboken district school.Another

winner doesn’t even have kids.Sigh.

46. 4th Ward Guardian

April 28th, 2011 |

Fair enough oceanbloo, but the Charter School isn’t it’s own district at all. Charter schools are

chartered by the state, overseen by the state and funded in large part by the state through the

local public school districts. Charter schools do not have the freedoms of Private schools. Don’t

forget for all her yammering about the Board of Ed election your Mayor’s kids go to a Charter

school.

Irene Sobolov is a chameleon with a past. She was a major supporter of Mayor Anthony Russo

because her brother was the Mayor’s spokesman. He’s a nice guy who’s being tortured by

Zimmer and her cronies who have someone else in mind for his job. He’s the Director of

Personnel now, and Zimmer and Arch Liston have a target on his back, but is Irene standing up

for him? She keeps following her marching orders from Markle and Minutillo. It makes you

wonder if Zimmer made it clear if Irene doesn’t play ball that her brother and sister will get the

axe. That’s right. Sobolov’s sister is on the payroll at the Board of Ed as well. Irene is protecting

her own.

People are getting wise to the “Kids First” scam. The only kids they’ve put first are their own.

In response to oceanbloo who said:

Referring to my earlier comment, OK, not having a child may not be a negative thing. But

a charter school is NOT the same thing as a Hoboken public school. The charter school

is its own district.I just don’t “get” why some of these people – both those who won AND

those who lost – ran for the board. I can’t imagine that all of them actually care about

the quality of education in Hoboken. Is it just to protect the jobs of their friends and

family? I think that current board member Irene Sobolov is there truly because she cares

Page 36: Screen Name"4th Ward Guardian" Posts on Hoboken411.com- December 18, 2014

– she is invested in the system given that her children are part of it. I wish there were

more board members like her both running and winning. At least you know what the

motive for running is.

Dawn Zimmer and Buddy Valastro have a classic “You do for me, I do for you” Hoboken

Tim Occhipinti is doing a great job as our 4th ward councilman and I’m confident he’ll keep his

Andriani Update: Summary Judgment

50. 4th Ward Guardian

March 24th, 2011 |

Andriani is a jerk who embarrassed himself and made his department a laughing stock. The

people who allowed him to act that way (LaBruno and Roberts) are no longer employed by the

city. Both get fat pensions, but that’s another story.

For the record Terry LaBruno and her husband had absolutely nothing to do with this. Her

husband is a Firefighter. His brother is the former Police Chief who let Andriani run wild.

Honeydew is confusing relationships. Campos also had nothing to do with this. Campos is

actually close with the Hispanic officers who first blew the whistle on Andriani.

Honeydew is wrong on some facts, but right about one thing. This was debacle of huge

proportions, and it looks like Zimmer’s mishandling of the situation to score political points has

made it even worse.

In response to HoneyDew who said:

It looks like he’s suspended for 6 months. I don’t understand how this makes him on the

force. Also I seem to recall that a couple of members our city government (or their family)

were a part of this. Roberts, Michael Russo, Terry LaBruno’s husband, Campos (I think).

This was a debacle of huge proportions.Didn’t Adriani get accused of making minority

police officers do work on his home? I remember reading a lot about the guy and

thinking he was a bad bad man.

This kid Sacs is as arrogant as they comes and treats his employees like garbage. Remember he

only got his job because he played soccer with the Mayor. I’m not surprised it came to this. Not

one bit. He should resign immediately, but Zimmer’s draconian employee ethics guidelines don’t

apply to her own people. They are only designed to persecute the people Zimmer wants to force

out to make room for the Ian Sacs’, Anne Holtzmans and Tejal Desais in her political circle who

want City Hall jobs. What a disgrace.

The attempted cover-up is worse than the original incident. This is official misconduct. People

should be brought up on charges for this. Every ally of the Mayor should be defeated in May.

Enough of this garbage. Hoboken deserves better.

Sacs is still in charge of the HPU because a white guy who plays soccer and rides bikes with

Zimmer gets her protection while a black guy from the projects trying to make ends meet for his

family gets thrown under The Hop. The driver was suspended without pay. Sacs was arrested but

never even reprimanded for his stupidity and recklessness. Good luck getting an answer from

Sacs, who thinks he’s all-knowing and untouchable. He has good reason to think so. Zimmer will

spend every last tax dollar defending him.

In response to Stpaddygirl who said:

I find the Hop totally confusing the Green Hop seems to be the one I would take to the

PATH in the morning yet I only see the Red Hop and it is going uptown not

downtown…….Sacs is still in charge of HPU right? I have an issue and need to address

it to the right person….

This boondoggle will be over soon. The ferry system is unsustainable without massive subsidies.

Take it while you can because it won’t be running at all a few years from now, or will just revert

to the original Weehawken-based routes.
