LEADING OFF: The RailRiders won their third straight, beating the IronPigs 5-2. Lehigh Valley struck first with a run against Brody Koerner in the top of the third, but Kyle Higashioka drove in Gleyber Torres in the bottom half of the third to even the game. After the IronPigs went back in front in the sixth, Abiatal Avelino singled in Ryan McBroom to tie the game at two. In the seventh, McBroom hit a three-run shot to put the RailRiders up for good; his third hit of the game leaving him a triple shy of the cycle. Brady Lail earned the win in relief, Tyler Viza took the loss and Cale Coshow earned his first save with two shutout innings. The win clinched the second straight series for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and guaranteed a winning opening homestand.

HICKS IS HERE: Aaron Hicks continues his rehab assignment with the RailRiders tonight. According to manager Bobby Mitchell, the outfielder will play a full nine this evening before rejoining the Yankees in Boston tomorrow. Hicks suffered a right intercostal muscle strain on Opening Day and has been on the DL since March 30.

ARCH RIVALS: The first IronRail series of the season belongs to the RailRiders. The IronPigs won the 2017 season series 11-7, but the RailRiders eliminated the Pigs from the postseason. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre owns the all-time series lead 84-66.

SHUFFLE UP AND DEAL: The New York Yankees made two roster moves affecting the RailRiders on Tuesday afternoon. Jace Peterson was designated for assignment and Shane Robinson was signed to a Major League contract before being selected from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Yankees acquired infielder L.J. Mazzilli, son of long-time big league Lee Mazzilli, from the New York Mets in a trade earlier today and assigned him to the RailRiders roster. Mazzilli was batting .333 with a run batted in for the Las Vegas 51s over four games prior to the trade. The Yankees traded outfielder Kendall Coleman to the Mets in return for Mazzilli.

BACK TO THE TOP: Chance Adams will make his second start of the season. The right-hander allowed five runs, four of which were earned, on Friday night in the season opener against Syracuse. Adams only surrendered four runs or more four times over 27 starts between two levels last season.

DOWN FOR A FEW DAYS: Giovanny Gallegos was placed on the 7-Day Disabled List on Monday. The right-hander pitched one inning on Sunday, allowing one run on one hit with one strikeout and one walk.

DEBUT DAY: Rashad Crawford was promoted from Trenton Monday to fill the roster spot created when Giovanny Gallegos was placed on the Disabled List. Crawford was acquired from the Cubs in the July 2016 deal for Aroldis Chapman and has played for Tampa and the Thunder in his year and a half in the Yankees system. The outfielder hit .210 for Trenton last season with five home runs and 32 runs batted in.

STRONG STARTS: David Hale worked six scoreless on Sunday and Daniel Camarena followed with four and a third scoreless Monday. Over the first five games, RailRiders starters have allowed nine runs over 24 innings pitched, good for a 3.38 ERA. Four of those runs came in one inning Friday night and three came on one swing from Syracuses Andrew Stevenson.

OFF THE RAILS: Each game against Syracuse over the opening weekend was decided by one run. SWB was a league-best 23-13 in one-run games last season... Rashad Crawford walked in his seventh inning at bat Tuesday night; reaching base for the first time in Triple-A... The RailRiders is slated to roll the rotation over for the next five days... 12 hits Tuesday marked the season high for the teams offense...

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: New York lost the series opener at Boston 14-1 Tuesday. Aaron Judge homered off Chris Sale for the only Yankees run of the game... Trenton beat New Hampshire 10-4. Gosuke Katoh and Jhalan Jackson hit home runs in the win... Tampa fell to St. Lucie 6-5 in 10 innings... Charleston lost 2-1 at Rome. Garrett Whitlock stuck out seven in the loss.
