Community / Families Engagement
Goal 1Strengths:
Educator’s promote children’s agency and form strong relationships with all children. Decision makingis a collaborative process and children’s rights and needs are always considered. With the physicalenvironment being a shared space with LDC it does cause challenges/conflict for allowing school agechildren the space for activities that are specifically for their age group. Educators work very well tobe creative and responsible to both groups when making choices about play and program delivery. Awritten program is being constantly reviewed and evolving to meet the needs of the current groups ofchildren in care.
Improvements: Educators aim to improve documentation, evaluating and planning to ensure thatchildren and their interests have links to documented group learning. Educators require more time toplan, implement and evaluate the learning that is occurring. Develop a written program that is visibleand easily interpreted allowing children to have input and take ownership of their day. Includeopportunities for families to have an input and view the education aspect of the Outside SchoolsHours program.

Goal 3Strengths:
As a small service with a stable and committed group of educators, we have been able to establishand maintain strong connections with all children in care and their families working to ensure that werespect, care and educate as individuals whilst aiming to meet the needs within the group. Educatorshave been using the EYLF and MTOP as guides for developing and implementing curriculum. This hasbeen the basis for our program that supports the learning and development of all children attendingour service. We aim for all educators to have a broad knowledge of the interests, experiences andideas of the children and families attending our service. This provides the foundation for spontaneousand flexible experiences that support and encourage all children in our setting to be activeparticipants in their learning experiences. We believe children have the right to play, and throughplay we provide wonderful opportunities for learning and creating confident children.Currently we are working to further develop our documentation of children’s learning in a way thatwill reflect the child’s engagement in the educational program. It will provide the basis for an ongoingcycle of assessment of children’s learning, planning, documenting and evaluating.
Improvements - Our aim is to deepen our documentation of the educational program and learning. We will be aiming to have better systems for documentation that will show clearer links for group andindividual learning. Technology will be a big part with an addition of an IPod and Ipad, and thepossible purchase of new devices and software. We aim to develop a system that follows the basicphilosophy of children learn well when engaged in play within a natural environment and as we are arural community that really reflects the children, family, educators and community.
