This program is available as: • Exchange – This means you pay your

regular tuition and fees to UNCW, and your accommodation costs abroad.

• Study Abroad – This means you pay your tuition, fees, and accommodations abroad.

With each option, there will be additional costs for international airfare, passport, health insurance, local transportation, and meals (if self-catered accommodation is selected). Please meet with an advisor at the Office of International Programs to discuss which option is best for you.

Program CostFederal and state financial aid may be applied toward this program. Even if you are normally ineligible for financial aid, you should submit a financial aid application (FAFSA). You may find that you are eligible for additional funding.

UNCW students may also apply for a UNCW Education Abroad Grant and additional study abroad scholarships. Grant applications and additional information are available at: www.uncw.edu/international/abroad/aid.html

Located in northern Scotland, Aberdeen is a vibrant, creative, and ambitious city, known for its historic charm and cosmopolitan community. The city of Aberdeen has something for everyone: from the bustling city centre of Europe’s Energy Capital to the beautiful countryside and coastlines, there’s plenty to see and do. Enjoy easy walking access to the modern city of Aberdeen with a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment. Aberdeen has great access to the rest of Scotland, as Edinburgh and Glasgow can be easily accessed via train or bus. With an international airport nearby, students can also readily explore the rest of Europe.

Surrounding Area

UNCW students may live in a variety of on-campus, university-managed facilities alongside local students. Student accommodation mainly consists of apartment-style living, with each student having their own single room. Some halls also feature private en-suite bathrooms. As most students live in apartments, with easy access to a kitchen, the majority of students select self-catered accommodation. However, Aberdeen also offers a number of catered residence halls. Please note that a typical catered plan may not be as extensive as what you are used to at UNCW.

Housing

With a reputation as one of the UK’s most beautiful and historic universities, Aberdeen is big enough for the “big city” experience but student-friendly enough to make it easy to find your way around and make friends. The university promotes an active student association, which provides students with a wide range of societies and clubs to join.
