Unit Title UNDER THE SEA PERSPECTIVE AFRICAN ANIMALS

Description In this unit students will explore the sea as an environment and use this as a resource for close observations of objects and sculptures. Through these close observations students will understand the qualities of these objects translate these observations into a range of ceramic sculptures and media.

In this unit students will explore and study the techniques and traditions of the illusion of perspective. They will also investigate perspective as a means of understanding the formal and structural aspects of the landscape/cityscape subject.

In this unit students steer away from the traditions and conventions of portraiture and explore animal portraiture, investigating African artists. With this knowledge students will make drawings and lino prints that explore cultural elements as well as learning structural qualities used for lino printing.
