Dear friends and colleagues,Welcome to the 19th annual meeting of the Israel Society for Clinical Oncology and Radiotherapy )ISCORT( to be held in Eilat on January 8-12, 2019.The ISCORT annual meeting hosts the majority of Israeli teams in the field. All of us are dedicated to the treatment of cancer patients, enhancing care, improving outcome and reducing toxicity. We strive to improve the quality of life for the patient, family members and society. We seek to promote unbiased education and improve access to optimal and affordable cancer care. This year’s program emphasizes the complexity of cancer care in the 21st century.During the last years we have witnessed the rapid unfolding of cancer research, targeted therapy, as well as the advantages and limitations of the powerful immune system. Innovations in most areas of treatment have led to an agnostic approach with faster and more comprehensive drug approval by regulatory agencies. We are still on a quest for the ideal treatment, tailored to the specific human being with his/her unique physiology, psychology, ethnicity, behavior and belief. Novelty and integration will surely bring our patients to the best possible outcome. Yet all novel approaches must be placed in a framework of value to the individual patient as well as society. Therefore, we will have short sessions that will provide such context. For the residents and young faculty we launched a new format for ISCORT, “Meet the Professor”, where participants are encouraged to present challenging cases or to pose professional dilemmas to our distinguished guests. We thank all members who participated in the organization of the meeting and scientific committee members for selecting the best abstracts to be shared by us.
Looking forward to a great conference,
