Science, Liberal Arts, and Pacman.
When there is a piece of fine art that makes us think, there is also the conjoined partnership between
science, humanity, and liberal arts. Take, for instance, Ms. Pacman. The ame itself not only bein one of
the most notable ames of all time, but also showin just how science works in hand with art. Without the
technoloy bein de!eloped for the ame, it wouldn"t e#ist. Without the concept behind a yellow circle
eatin dots and sometimes hosts, Pacman wouldn"t be in the world. $et e!en with these in mind, to answer
whether or not the ame is art re%uires an understandin of just how science and art and humanities come
toether.
Walter &ssacson belie!es that science and liberal arts create the stronest bond in application, and therefore
necessary. And he pro!es this in citin e#amples that in!ol!e Leonardo da 'inci, Ste!e (obs, Albert )instein,
and many more o!er the course of one of his lectures. Ste!en Pinker would somewhat aree to this, but not
to the e#tent of sayin that they"re necessary for ood outcome. &n his debate aainst Leon Wieseltier,
Pinker loically e#plains the concepts between art and science, and also includes their connection that,
althouh is loose, is what allows for creati!ity in how to answer certain %uestions without bottleneckin what
art and science are allowed to accomplish and proress throuh. So in a way, both art and science are
separate processes, but can answer the same %uestions in distinct ways when needed.
So with this in mind, is Ms. Pacman art* The short answer is yes. +i!in more into details howe!er, Ms.
Pacman is art because of how the concept and technoloies and differently brained ideas need to work
toether to create somethin as e#traordinary.
