The workshop is scheduled for 3 days and intended to equip participants
with technical skills for automating their own libraries with the following
objectives:
- To create awareness among professionals about open source library
management technology & its application in library
- To make the library professionals technically sound so as to
automate their library independently without any support & also to
migrate data from one existing system to new system
- To enable the library & information professionals to face the
technological challenges such as data migration, multi-branch
handling, installation, online public access catalog etc.
- And, to strengthen the society & professionals
The proposed workshop is being planned in the context of the latest
application of Koha and Data Migration in library and information
environments. In view of the emerging circumstances the present training
workshop is proposed to be held at Birla Global University,
Bhubaneswar during April 26-28, 2019.
To Celebrate Decade-long Journey of Ranganathan Society for Social Welfare & Library Development
Koha is the first Open Source Integrated Library Management System
(ILMS) which includes Acquisition, Cataloguing, Circulation, Serial Control
& Online Public Access Catalogue with many more advanced features.
Koha supports International library standards and protocols which
ensures interoperability between Koha & any other library management
system. It supports technologies and international standards such as
MARC 21, RFID, z39.50, web 2.0 etc. The software is fully customizable and
includes all modules expected in any standard library management
system.

Source Software)
Support Multiple Instances (One can create more than 1 library
with different database)
Data migration is the process of moving required volume of data from
existing systems to new systems. Existing systems can be anything from
custom-built IT infrastructures to spreadsheets and standalone databases.
Data migration encompasses all the necessary steps to cleanse, correct
and move data into a new system. Technological changes, change in
providers, software updates or data warehousing/data mining projects
make such delicate and critical operations necessary. Some key terms in
