Science… This term we will be exploring the different types of animals that live in India, and the jungle. We will be classifying animals depending on what we know about them. We will also discuss the differences in weather across India and how it changes through the year. We will continue to observe our weather here and compre it to the typical Indian climate. English…We will be enjoying riddles- reading them, exploring them, responding to them, learning what makes them a riddle and writing our own riddle! We will be exploring different sentence types to make our riddle informative and yet cryptic! EYFS children will be exploring the story of Elmer and finding out how he is unique. We will go on to explore tale from other cultures, particularly Indian culture. MathsWe will be continuing to learn purposeful maths skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing by using objects such as cubes to help us but also using number lines and empty number lines. We will be learning how to subtract when regrouping is and is not necessary to solve puzzles and problems. We will be continuing to learn about shapes and their properties. We will be learning how to reason, and explain why we think something, and prove it in a mathematical way. RE…Hinduism. We will be learning about the different festivals and the reason behind them. For example the Holi festival (Festival of Spring.) Different festivals and the reason behind them. Music… We will be listening to, responding to, improvising, composing and performing our own Indian inspired music. We will be comparing the different music between two cultures. PSHCE… Growth mind set. How we can improve our attitude to learning. What makes an ‘effective learner.’ ComputingWe will continue to visit online safety and what this means for us at school and at home. History We will be learning about Mother Teresa. We will be finding out who she was, where she lived and what she did to help people in India. We will be thinking about what we can learn from Mother Teresa about the choices we make today. PE/GamesMulti skills – learning a range of ways to move including agility and co-ordination Team games – developing tactics for attacking and defending. Art/DT In art, we will be exploring the patterns, colours and styles of Indian art work. We will be looking at different types of Indian art work and making our own, using this style. We will be making silhouette art work. In DT we will be sampling, designing and making and evaluating our own curry. We will learn about tradition Indian spices too. Geography We will be learning the differences in the land: mountains and flat lands, and volcanoes. We will be learning about the Himilayan mountains and considering how they are different to the land in our local area.

Science…
