    A SHARED TABLE

The Rev. David M. RiderPresident & Executive Director

Building upon a legacy dating back to 1834, SCI strives to serve individual mariners while calling the global maritimeworld together around one shared table.

In generations past, storied benefactors like Astor, Carnegie, Morgan and Vanderbilt gathered to use their influence tobetter the lives of American and international seafarers. As these guides passed on, new industry titans took their placeat the table of SCIs leadership, making us more global, diverse and agile in our service to mariners near and far.

In 2015, SCI trustees, staff and donors worked to set a table of hospitality, thought leadership and creative service tothe maritime industry we love. A Silver Bell Forum shared the newest insights on emerging regulations and shipboardtechnology. Our Center for Seafarers Rights traveled globally to address issues like MLC, 2006 and shore-leaveaccess. Our river chaplains undertook advanced emergency response training to serve mariners in times of crisis. In Houston, our Center for Maritime Education brought together training partners to plan a new generation ofsimulation infrastructure and e-learning.

SCI draws maritime leaders to a common table for collaboration and a safe place to address vexing issues.Concurrently, we send our chaplains, maritime instructors and other ambassadors out to engage mariners along ournations river system, on coastwise routes and aboard ships calling in Port Newark. Coming and going, we seek tocombine the ancient art of hospitality with the latest best practices for training, pastoral care and advocacy.

Please read our Annual Report to understand better why SCI matters to mariners and why you matter to SCI.Thanks for your enduring support and prayers in 2015.
