Year 6 – Summer 1 Information Monday 24 th April Dear Parents / Carers, Welcome back after the Easter holiday – we hope you and your families had a lovely break. As we look forward to an exciting term ahead, we would like to share some information with you. Curriculum : Below is a timetable for the upcoming SATs: The children will be revising key topics for each area during the weeks leading up to the SATs. In addition, the children will be given ‘revision’ activities to complete at home. Please refer to the Year 6 blog (on the school website) to view a list of useful revision websites. To give the children an extra boost, we will be starting a breakfast club from Tuesday 2 nd May. All of the children are invited to come in (to Mr Sheehan’s classroom) at 8:30am to enjoy a light breakfast with their class mates and teachers. Religion : At this time of year, we will be reflecting on the call of the Holy Spirit for us all to be Witnesses. Christians believe that the spirit of God is active in each person and in a special way in the community of believers – which is the Church. The Feast of Pentecost is the celebration both of the gift of God’s Holy Spirit and the

Year 6 – Summer 1 Information

Monday 24 th April

Dear Parents / Carers,

Welcome back after the Easter holiday – we hope you and your families had a lovely break.

As we look forward to an exciting term ahead, we would like to share some information with you.

Curriculum:

Below is a timetable for the upcoming SATs:

The children will be revising key topics for each area during the weeks leading up to the SATs. In addition, the children will be given ‘revision’ activities to complete at home. Please refer to the Year 6 blog (on the school website) to view a list of useful revision websites.

PE: In PE, we will be focusing on Games. The following are some of the objectives we will be covering:

Physical Me: To develop sending and receiving a ball with a partner or up to 4’s,To develop strategies for use of space to either send or receive a ball to outwit opponents.Social Me: To be able to communicate passing.Thinking Me: To begin to use a range of tactics to outwit my opponent (s) in action, evaluating my tactics to improve my scores.Healthy Me: To be able to describe the muscles used the most when carrying out particular exercises.

Spanish Exchange : After the SATs, the children in year 6 will be preparing for the arrival of our

Spanish visitors in the second summer half term. This will involve planning a welcome assembly and a variety of different

activities.

Summer Show

This year’s show will be ‘The Jungle Book’. As mentioned in the letter from Mrs Coyle, rehearsals for the show will be held on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons – from 3:30pm until 5:00pm. The children are very excited about the show and we are sure that it will be a big success.

Other Information:

As always, we encourage the children to read as often as possible when they are not in school – and we would appreciate your support with this. The children should bring their PE kit with them on a Monday and then take it home on Friday.

Here are some dates for your diaries:

Breakfast club – Tuesday 2nd May – Friday 12th May – 8:30am in Mr Sheehan’s classroom

SATs week – Monday 8th May – Friday 12th May

Show rehearsals – every Wednesday and Thursday (please refer to rehearsal schedule for which characters are needed for each rehearsal)

Term Ends at 3:30pm Friday 26th May 2017.
