    DONT FORGET TO APPEALUNISON Branch Officers have been offering support and advice to hun-

    dreds of School Support Staff since Single Status notification letters weresent out during the last week of November 2012.

    If you find yourself in a red circled position (losing) and wish to appeal it

    is important that you lodge your appeal with Wolverhampton City Coun-

    cil within 28 days of the date on your notification letter.

    UNISON is now aware of the high numbers of Teaching Assistants at

    Level 2 and 3 that are facing pay cuts under the allocation process as well

    as Midday Supervisors and Cleric/Admin in some schools.The reasons for the losses very from one school to another and from one employee to

    another but includes posts being allocated to a particular profile incorrectly or an

    underscoring of the working conditions factors

    Single Status - Current Position

    Following a halt to talks during September and October, three meetings took place

    during November 2012 between Officers of UNISON and Wolverhampton City

    Council. These latest talks have led to an improved Single Status package being of-

    fered to UNISON, the improved offer including an updated equality impact assess-

    ment is currently being scrutinised by UNISONs equal pay experts at our head of-

    The overall package does now include the possibility of 12 months pay protection for the

    majority of employees that are losing from April 2013, and the introduction of the Living

    Wage (currently 7.45 per hour) as the bottom of the new pay model Grade 1 (SCP 10).

    However this new package is dependant on a ballot of UNISON members and acceptance

    of the overall package including the reductions or abolition to other part 3 (Green Book)

    conditions including overtime rates and weekend enhancements etc. UNISON will keep

    you informed of developments.
