SCHOOL HOURS AND COURSESSchool Hours:

Elementary Students go from 7:00 a.m. to 4:20 p.m.

High School students have the option to take either morning or afternoon classes.

Morning: 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Afternoon: 1-2 p.m. to 4:30-5:30 p.m. depending on the time chosen

Courses:

AGES AND UNIFORMSAll ages 6-16 must be attending school, ages above 16 have the option to continue.

Each student is required to take at least 10 years of ecucation.

Uniform Colors differ based on grade.For ex., fourth grade has to wear a blue uniform whereas fifth grade has to wear a red one.Source: Education in Cuba

BREAKS AND VACATIONS

Averagely in Cuba, an elementary school year consists of approximately 11 months. (September-July).

Therefore, summer vacation is only available for a month and a few days, depending on the last day. (August + extra days)

TYPES OF SCHOOLS

Schools in Cuba are 100% public. They are tuition free and provide education to all young citizens.

Lunch is not provided as students have a break in the day where they are able to go home and have a homemade lunch.

There is a student-teacher ratio of 12:1
