Please type or copy and paste your text here for the specified page: Alderbrook Primary School Policy on Grants for School Journey Introduction In the line with the school’s ethos we believe that: All children should be given the opportunity to engage in a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum, which includes a school journey All children should be able to experience and celebrate the sense of school community in the context of a school journey All children should be able to participate in the journey, regardless of their financial circumstances Eligibility The qualifying criteria for school journey grants are: The application must be made by the parent/carer of the recipient on the school journey grant form The parents/carers will be asked to supply up-to-date evidence that they are eligible for a grant The grant applies to the governor approved school journey only Application for a grant will only be considered after charitable sources have been investigated eg. Arethusa Venture Centre Assessment Procedure Parents identified by the Headteacher as being in financial hardship will receive a school journey grant form The form must be returned with the current evidence of benefits The Headteacher will assess and approve recommendations for individual parental applications The governors finance sub-committee (FPC) will approve the total amount of School Grant to be authorised for payments made. Where possible FPC approval will be sort by the head as far in advance of School Journey as possible, however it is understood that allowances need to be to suit the reality of the timing of grant applications by parents. A full grant will cover the cost of board and lodgings only The grant will be paid directly from the school budget (School journey ledger code) to relevant venue
