Using the ABC’s of School-Based Mentoring Program by Education Northwest Organization, the following expectations for change will be monitored. • Academic performance • Quality of work completed by student • Reduction in truancy • Reduction in disciplinary referrals.
Monitoring Plan:Weekly data will be collected and kept by the mentor in the areas of attendance, behavior, and academic success. The achievement and improvement will be monitored and compared each quarter and by semester. Student improvement would be rewarded with VVHS 2-2-4 Incentive Program and attendance incentive trip at the end of the year.
Evaluation Plan:Data will be compared to the previous year’s discipline records and graduation rate.

COMPONENT IV: REQUIRED ELEMENTS FOR TITLE I SCHOOLS:
Title I Schools operating a Schoolwide Program must complete Items 1 through 5 on this page.
1. Describe the school's strategies to attract effective, highly-qualified teachers to your school. Our school has a very low teacher turnover rate. When positions do open, we conduct a thorough review of the applicants. At times, visits to the current school are made as well as conversations with department chairs and administrators.
2. Describe the school's strategies to increase family engagement in accordance with Section 1118 of NCLB (see resource link), such as family literacy services and the provision to parents on how the school will share academic information in a language they understand.Parents will be invited to review the School Performance Plan and offer input on the goals and action steps. Monthly Title I parent meetings will be held by each department. Parent meetings will have translators available. Academic information is shared with parents through Infinite Campus, quarterly progress reports, and contacts by teachers in emails or phone calls home.
3. Describe the school's plans for transition and articulation between school programs (ie: assisting preschool children from early childhood programs such as Head Start, Even Start, or a state-run preschool program to elementary school, elementary school to middle school, and middle to high school, etc.).Schools work closely together to ensure a seamless transition from 8th grade to high school. A visit to the middle school by the administration and counselor is planned each year. 8th grade students visit the high school in the spring and are provided information that relates to elective classes and school activities available. Seniors receive guidance from counselors, attend college preparedness nights, and participate in activities with college recruiters on campus.
4. Identify the measures that include teachers in decisions regarding the use of academic assessments.Department chair meetings are held with the administration to discuss the use of academic assessments. The DC's then report back to their departments and provide feedback to the administration on any issues that may arise. Staff Development days are used to have open discussions regarding school specific issues, including assessments.
5. Provide assurance that federal, state, and local services are coordinated and integrated into the school improvement effortsServices are provided through Title I and PZ 16 Credit Retrieval monies. Aspects from each of these areas are included in our school improvement plan and have been shared with our staff members. We have used prep buyouts to lower numbers in proficiency prep classes. We have also provided tutoring for the End of Course Exams using credit retrieval monies. Students are provided after school credit retrieval opportunities through Title I funds.
