• Pupils choose an item and talk about it.
o Reading Aloud
• Pupils read a given passage aloud.

• Pupils respond to a given stimulus by engaging in a conversation with the teacher.
Paper Format (Performance Tasks) o Understanding Text
Pupils listen to a text being read and answer questions based
on it.
o Picture Matching
Pupils listen to 5 sentences and select the picture that best
matches each sentence.
o Picture Composition
Pupils write 8 to 10 sentences on a picture with the aid of
helping words.
o Term Test
Pupils are assessed on their language use, namely grammar,
vocabulary, punctuation, synthesis and comprehension.
