Congratulations to Dr. Charles Campisi and Mr. James Mattern the faculty who led this year’s Super Bowl experience. Thank you to the Friends of HPESS, especially Tony Dick and the Greater Cleveland Sports Com-mission who assisted through fundraising support making the trip possible.

This trip we worked the NFL Ex-perience, met with professionals from the PAC-12 network, and Phizzle. These opportunities are invaluable as we graduate and find our way in “the real world”. Working with the NFL Experi-ence and state of the art technolo-gy while interacting with some of the most diehard NFL fans is great. Seeing the Lombardi tro-phy and all 49 Super Bowl rings

up close and personal is definitely a highlight that I’ll hold onto for the rest of my life. On the day of the Super Bowl I helped photographers. It was great to make connections in a different arena of the sports world. Providing various connections and one of a kind experiences is some-thing that BW prides itself on and taking Sport Management majors to

four consecutive Super Bowl’s proves it. I’m extremely thankful for the experiences afforded to me by Baldwin Wallace University and espe-cially by Dr. Charles Campisi, and I’m 100% positive that I wouldn’t be afforded these ex-periences anywhere else.

Working the Super Bowl for my second year was yet again another eye opening experi-ence. There is no doubt that working game day and the experience are great resume builders, but it was also nice to make connections in the industry.

My trip was a little different than others in that I was able to attend Leigh Steinberg’s Super Bowl Party. Here I made connections that will

help boost me into the world of Sports Agents and hopefully an internship with his office. Being able to talk to players like Troy Aick-man and Pax Lynch was a once in a life time experi-ence, but more importantly I was able to get my foot in the door with one of the greatest sports agents of our time. I am so thankful we do this trip and cannot wait for next year in Houston

Throughout the four years that I have spent at Baldwin Wallace, I feel so blessed with the many personal and professional experiences that BW has given me. That be-ing said, the most rewarding experience was attending the Super Bowl this year with the Sport Management pro-gram. In February, we trav-eled to San Francisco, Cali-fornia and spent a week working with the NFL Expe-rience group running pre-event experiences as a lead up to the game. In addition, I was also able to work game day, working as an assistant to the NFL Photography staff. My dream is to work in event management and this opportunity has given me experience of the highest degree. As an aspiring Sport Man-agement professional, this

experience will always standout to me. Baldwin Wallace is an amazing in-stitution for the amount of opportunities, as this is on-ly one of many, that are available to students. I cannot speak highly enough of my academic advisor, Dr. Charles Campisi, along with the rest of the HPESS Faculty for organizing this remark-able annual trip. Through-out my graduate school interview process, the mention of this trip has gotten the interest of many individuals at the Division I level and I hope that the trip helps the BW Sport Management program gen-erate much more attention at both the national and local level.

Dr. Charles Campisi, assistant professor of Sport Management knows how much the work trip means to both current and prospective students. "It's a great recruit-ing tool when people find out what they can do and where they can go in our sports management program," he said. "Our students get the chance to experience Super Bowl week and game day from behind the scenes, and to gain an understanding of what it takes to plan, organize, and execute a true sports spectacle. It's the kind of experience that professional teams will notice as our students apply for positions in the field."

As Super Bowl ticket costs have increased, from an average of $12 for Super Bowl I to $1,500 for Super Bowl 50, the cost to participate in the Baldwin Wallace University (BW) Super Bowl Experi-ence has increased as well. The fundraising starts early and, as it should, includes the three major local sports teams, particularly the Cleveland Browns. Over the past two years, BW Sport Manage-ment alum Tony Dick has provided the Sport Management Club (SMC) raffle packages. In 2014, the package helped raise over $5,000. For the 2015 season, not only were the tickets for the Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers game, but they were located in the Browns Alumni Suite and the goodie bag included an autographed Jim Brown football. These extra enhancements helped the SMC break the $8,000 barrier. Additional fundraising through work with the Greater Cleveland Sports Commis-sion and the BW Student Government has also been a valuable resource.

In preparation for the trip to Houston for Super Bowl LI in 2017, Sport Management students have been selling tickets to the Lake Eric Monsters, Cleveland Gladiators, and Cleveland Indians as part of the Sales & Sponsorship and Capstone classes.

If you’re looking to contribute, the BW Sport Management Club does accept raffle and monetary donations. All donations can be mailed to: Charles Campisi, Baldwin Wallace University, 275 Eastland Rd., Berea, OH 44017 and checks can be made payable to: Baldwin Wallace University Sport Management Club. Thank you in advance for your support and please check out the BWHPESS on Instagram and Twitter (@BWHPESS).
