Mentoring System(how do you mentor students individually?)
• A faculty member is assigned as staff advisor to each class right from the first year. He/She will be dealing with the students matters through out the four years of their stay in the campus. A meeting of the parents and teachers is organized once in every semester. Students who needs special attention ( in academics or in disciplinary matters) are separately dealt with. The staff advisor constantly keep in touch with the parents of such students
• Professional guidance / Career advancement: Carrier Guidance and Placement Cell (CGPC) of the college conduct special training programs for the students. Every year, pre-placement programs are conducted for the benefit of the students to attend campus interviews.
• Course work / Lab specific: If necessary, extra classes/lab sessions are conducted in the evenings, as per the convenience of the instructor, for weaker students in all the departments.
• Total Development: The activities of the College Union, Department Associations (which conduct technical festivals every year), IEEE Students Chapter (which conducts invited lectures and special training programme
Feedback analysis(how do you do it? Reward/corrective measures)
• The feedback is taken manually. The students are provided with hard copy of the feedback form containing 12 points. Students can rate each question choosing any of one of the Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor rates. The mark will be awarded as Excellent -5, Good – 4, Fair – 2 and Poor – 1. Each student can fill the feedback form for all the teachers who are taking classes for them.
• Department utilize the feedback to improve the teaching learning process• Feedback mechanism from alumni, parents, and industry• The feedbacks of alumni and parents during the concerned general body meetings are by and
large oral in nature and any creative suggestions raised during these occasions are considered and discussed in detail in the school council meeting for further action. The feedbacks from parents are also obtained at department levels during their visit to departments. Career Guidance, Placement Unit(Availability of an exclusive Well furnished Seminar Hall, Central Computing Facility, Soft skill development, employability assessment)
• Placement Cell caters for enhancing not only the employability skills of the passing out cusatians but also the overall development of their personality.
• PC organizes on campus and off campus recruitments and pre-placement training programmes in Aptitude test, Group Discussions, Interviews and presentation skills in collaboration with TEQIP and core departments. Mock interviews and GDs are conducted on a regular basis so as to equip final and pre-final students to face the challenges of the recruitment scenario.
• Close on the heels of placement drives, the Placement Assistance Cell makes an evaluation of the performance of our students. This objective appraisal enables the placement cell to identify strengths and weakness of the candidates and select the strategies for improvement. Besides, there are intensive supportive measures for the rejected candidates.

We have players in Basketball, Football, Badminton, Volleyball, Fencing etc. And players have bagged awards in National level for fencing, Badminton and Shuttle. The cricket team also excelled in the South zone Games meet.
Campus Development and Management
• There is a full fledged engineering department headed by University Engineer for the construction and maintenance of physical infrastructure. The University Engineer is ably supported by Asst. Exe.Engineers, Asst. Engineers, Supervisors, Technicians, and skilled workers.
• The Engineering Dept undertakes the construction and maintenance of buildings, roads, landscapes, water supply, drainage and power supply.
• All academic blocks are provided with adequate maintenance staff. Potable water is provided to all by using water purifiers and coolers.
• Class rooms are spacious, well ventilated with comfortable seating arrangements.. Each room is provided with fans and lights..
• Hygienic food is provided by the canteens. • Maintenance of computers, UPS, and lab equipments are done by manufacturers or agencies
under Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) and break down calls.

Canteen
• There are 2 canteens with 100 seats each. Around 500 people are availing canteen facility.• Hygienic food is provided by the canteens.
Transport facilities
• Around 300 hundred students are availing SOE transportation facility with two buses (60 seats each). There are 3 trips for morning and evening. One jeep is available for the official purpose.
Electricity, power backup and telecom • The campus has got 3 substations with 2 substations having a capacity
of 500 kVA and the other with 400 kVA. • The School has installed a Diesel Generator having a capacity of 63
kVA and is in the process of installing another one with capacity 63 kVA. • The campus is connected with an EPBAX with 800 lines.
Drinking Water
• The campus receives drinking water mainly from the Kerala Water Authority. • There are sumps with capacity of 3,00,000 Litres and an over head
tank having capacity 1,25,000 Litres. In addition to that the campus has a pond and 4 wells.
Grievance redressal forums
• The University will set up “Grievance Redressal Committee” where the students can air their grievances. The committee shall consist of the Heads/Principals/Directors of the Departments, eminent persons including retired Judges and also members of the PTA. Till these committed are instituted, adhoc committees shall be formed by the Vice-Chancellor.
• Grievances are redressed at a decentralized level; Department Council acts as the primary grievance redressal cell related to academic and administrative matters of the students. The department council takes up issues if any and resolves them at their level. .
• The UGC Cell for SC/ST in the University functions as a grievances redressal cell for SC/ST students and provides them necessary helps in solving their academic as well as administrative problems. There is also a grievance redressal committee for PhD students to solve their issues, if any.
• Common issues are tackled at the Registrars level. Policy issues if any, are dealt by the Syndicate.• There is a Complaints Committee for the redressal of grievances related to sexual harassment and gender
justice which came into effect on 5th May 2001. The committee comprises of a chairperson, 9 members from among the University teaching and nonteaching staff community and one from outside the University. Since inception, the committee resolved three complaints which came before it. Recently the Gender Justice. Committee has been re-constituted and is fully functional.

Campus Network
• The University has a bandwidth of 1 Gbps provided by National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NME-ICT) project under the NKN (National Knowledge Network) project of the Govt. of India. The users of CUSAT will get 150/100 Mbps download/upload bandwidth under this project.• Apart from these, University maintains a 24 Mbps leased line internet
connectivity to host the internet servers like Web, Mail, DNS etc and other public services.
Safety norms and checks• The Electrical wing of the University engineering department do the periodical checks for wiring and electrical installations
• Multiple exits are available in almost all class rooms and labs, uninterrupted water supply is available in all buildings and firefighting equipment is available in few places
• The Civil construction wing of the University engineering department does the periodical checks and maintenance of buildings.
The following guidelines are followed while handling chemicals:----------
• Use required personal protective equipment. Eye protection is always appropriate.
• Label all containers with chemical content.
• Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling any chemical and whenever the students leave the lab.
• Avoid direct contact with any chemical. Always wear a laboratory coat, at a minimum.
• Never smell, intentionally inhale or taste a chemical.
• Smoking, drinking, eating and the application of cosmetics is forbidden in areas where hazardous chemicals are used or stored.
• Always use chemicals with adequate ventilation or in a chemical fume hood. Use hazardous chemicals only as directed and for their intended purpose.
• Inspect equipment or apparatus for damage before adding a hazardous chemical. Do not use damaged equipment.
• Never use mouth suction to fill a pipette. Use a pipette bulb or other pipette-filling device.
• Electrically ground containers using approved methods before transferring or dispensing a flammable liquid from a large container.e periodical checks and maintenance of buildings
Laboratory Fume Hoods---------
• Fume hoods are used to prevent hazardous, offensive, or flammable gases and vapors from mixing with the general room air. Splash goggles with splash proof sides or a face shield must be used when protection from a chemical splash is needed.
Use of Respirators ---------
• Respirators are designed to protect only against specific types of substances and in certain concentration ranges, depending on the type of equipment used.
• Exposures to strong acids and acid gases, organic solvents and strong oxidizing agents, carcinogens, and mutagens require the use of protective equipment that
• prevents skin contamination. In these situations, impervious protective equipment must be used. Examples include: - rubber or nitrile gloves, rubber boots, rubberized suits, special protective equipment
Counselling & Medical Care
• A health clinic functions in the university campus with the support of a doctor from the nearby co-operative Medical College. Emergency cases are referred to the Medical College which is located only 1.5 kms away from the university campus.
