You must study 120 Credits at both Stage 2 and Stage 3 giving a total of 240 Credits over the two Stages. At least 90 Credits must be taken at Level 6 during Stage 3 to be eligible for an Honours degree. You must ensure that you choose an even weighting of Credits in each term: 60 Credits in the Autumn and 60 Credits in the Spring. Modules are subject to availability and may not run every year. A YEAR IN PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE Students taking a standard School of Anthropology and Conservation programme (without a year abroad) are permitted to undertake a Placement Year between stages 2 and 3 of their degrees. You will take 120 credits in the third year of your undergraduate degree programme, and spend a year (the minimum requirement is 24 weeks) working in an industrial or commercial or non-profit creative organisation setting, applying and enhancing the skills and techniques you have developed and studied in Stages 1 and 2 of your degree programme. Students wishing to undertake the Placement Year programme are expected to find appropriate placement(s) themselves. However support will be provided to the student on different aspects of identifying, applying for, securing and preparing for placements by the University’s Careers and Employability Service (e.g. on CV writing, interview skills). There are no formal pre-requisite modules for participation in the YPP. However, participation is dependent on maintaining a clean disciplinary record during the degree programme up to the time of the placement. We also expect all of our placement students to have achieved a minimum of 60% in their marks for Stage 1. The Placement Year programme is also available for students studying the standard programme on a part-time basis; the placement component would, however, require them to re-register as full-time students for the period spent on a placement.
