Have you tried engaging with our 'Faith at Home' worship presentations on our social media? Each week, on a Monday, we are posting a media presentation looking at a different theme to help us to worship at home. Y10 Work Experience
With the support of ‘Changing Education’ we are able to facilitate a full programme of Virtual Work Experience. This will be of great benefit to our pupils, providing them with access to the world of work and links with leading industry experts to provide them with insights into the workplace. The Virtual Work Experience week has been scheduled to take place week beginning Monday 6th July 2020. Prior to this there are several steps that need to be completed. On Wednesday 3rd June all Year 10 pupils will be sent information direct from Changing Education to their school email address. This email will invite them to download the Changing Education Student App. Pupils will then be asked to complete some essential information so that they can be matched with industries related to their interests. This will involve: 1. Via the app pupils need to select three areas of industry interest. 2. Create a placement called ‘Changing Education Virtual WEX’ across the following date range: 6th July – 10th July. 3. Complete and submit a work personality questionnaire. This all needs to be completed and submitted by Friday 12th June 2020 in order for links to be made and pupils matched up with employers. Pre-Placement phase: In the lead up to the Work Experience week, pupils will be sent regular emails with links to #SectorSpotlightSessions where they will be able to watch a range of daily employer videos providing them with insights into a range of industries. In addition, they will receive a bi-weekly email every other Friday with video links to the most relevant industries linked to their stated interests. On 29th June, a week before the Work Experience week, pupils will receive an email with full details and a timetable for their placement week. Virtual Work Experience Placement phase: Pupils will have access to daily #SectorSpotlightSessions videos. They will be involved with interactive careers talks as part of the virtual work experience offer. These will take place each afternoon and provide pupils with the opportunity to listen live to industry experts and will also provide pupils with the opportunity to ask questions direct to these speakers. This will provide pupils with great experience and insight to real employers and industry, as well as providing great content to include on their future CV. We would be very grateful if you would speak to your son/daughter about this fantastic opportunity and encourage them to access their emails on 3rd June, download the app, and submit all the required information by the deadline of 12th June. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs
Martin on [email protected].
Food Technology
Eat your way around the world One of the many joys of holidays is getting to try local delicacies from around our own country and explore delicious treats when travelling abroad. With all travel currently suspended, local restaurants closed we may be missing some of our favourite tasty dishes. Pupils are being challenged each week to find out about local British delicacies and also investigate countries from different continents by finding out about climate, staple foods and traditional dishes. When possible pupils are also being encouraged to make a dish they have found out about and send photographs in to their teacher. Certificates and achievement points will be issued for excellent work – Enjoy your travels!

Drama- duologue between the police and Tony Martin
(In a small room with dim lighting surrounding it, making the walls appear
grey. There is a single white table in the middle of the room and Tony and
the police officer are sat on either side. Dim light shines down onto Tony’s
face)
Tony
Well done. This is what happens when you are as useless like always. This
would not have happened if you did your job properly.
(Slightly brighter light shines on the police officer’s face)
Police
Mr. Martin, we apologise for the inconvenience we may have caused, but you
must understand that we are very busy. Being apart of the police force is not
easy and we have other cases to solve.
Drama
Rachel Hornby – Y10
Ava Williams – Y8
In drama, students have been asked to work on a script which is based on the Tony Martin break in
case. They had to try and create an atmosphere and add technical aspects to their work.
Charlie Cummins from 8TX did a great job. This is the start of her script.
Tony
So, you’re saying that every other case and every other burglary is more
important than the ones that happen to me. Because of you,(speaks louder) I
had to take matters into my own hands.
Police
(Lowers his voice) You… have no right… to shoot people. You should have…
Tony
Don’t tell me that I have no right and don’t tell me what I should have done.
I will say it again, this would not have happened if you did your job
properly. Now a man is dead, and that is upon your hands.
(Tony leans back into dimmer light. His chair creaks as he does so)
Police
You cannot blame the police for the drastic actions you took. You were not in
any physical danger at the time so should have stayed calm and acted
responsibly.
(Tony leans forward and intensely stares at the officer as he speaks. The
room suddenly goes dark, spotlight is only on Tony)
Music

research on Indian Music.

We have received some outstanding work by Year 11 student Josua Hattingh. He is hoping to go on to college to complete his A-Level qualifications, but in his spare time he is focusing on his talent and trying to set up his own business within the Art industry. The pieces of work Josua creates are very detailed pen drawings of famous cityscapes, the intricate detail can take him up to 10 hours to add! I am sure you will agree, his work oozes professionalism and exceptional standard! Thank you for sharing Josua, we wish you every success in the future.
.
A very special thank you and well done to our Year 7 artist Daniel Maguire. He has sent in a striking image that he has worked on independently during his time at home. Addressing his inspiration behind the piece Daniel wrote:
'I decided to draw my picture in response to the current happenings around the world that I had seen on the news and social media. My message behind the picture is to promote peace, positivity and inclusion in an often unkind world. We should be more accepting of each other - as we are all equal'.
Technology
Before the half term holidays, the Technology faculty gave their KS3 students an
upcycling challenge. Upcycling is all about taking something no longer in use and
giving it a second life and new function. In doing so, the finished product often
becomes more practical, valuable and more beautiful than what it previously was.
We asked our KS3 students to take an old object no longer in use and fashion it into
something else. A lot of our students got on board with this challenge and sent us
pictures of their upcycled objects, below are some of our favourites.

Here is an extract from Cameron’s speech:
Dear my supporters and people of the community,
As said in the Quran “you who believe, obey God and the messenger, and those in authority among you. If you are in dispute over any matter, refer it to God and the messenger”. In this passage it is taught to Muslims to obey three types of authority including Allah (God - through following the teachings of the
Quran), Prophet Muhammed (sunnah and Hadith) and any others in authority (maybe the heads of state). Similarly, Christianity teaches about the importance of peace and many Christians are pacifists.

Religious Studies
Week commencing 1 June - Y9 were investigating religious ideas concerning pacifism and peace
making. One of the tasks students could select was to write a speech on the topic.
However, people sometimes experience prejudice and discrimination. Black American people should not, I repeat should not have to fear for their lives and the future of their children - a child being frightened
to go to school or walk out their house due to racism. Everybody is unique and should have a chance to show off who they are whether they have different coloured skin, different hairstyle, their clothes style or language that they may speak. Everyone should show peace to one another.
I am a pacifist myself and I am here to convince you that pacifism is the right way to think, no violence, no war. We are a smart and clever community who have the intelligence to sit down calmly to talk about all of our opinions and what we think is right and wrong rather that quick thinking that war is just the
answer to everybody’s problem.
Thank you, to all you listeners who have come here today to listen to what I have to say as a pacifist and I hope you take on board what I have said and you realise the importance and meaning of what I have said.
There have been some fantastic entries from students across all year groups. Remember
that it is not too late to enter.
Students select one out of a choice of four themes and create a piece of artwork, poetry or
even photography.
