School Matters FROM THE HEADMASTER’S OFFICE

You were born a winner. A warrior, one who defied the odds …

The only walls that exist are those you have placed in your mind. And whatever obstacles you conceive, exist only because you have

forgotten what you have already achieved.

INTER-HIGH ATHLETICS Thank you to all the learners going to the inter-high as spectators. Unfortunately, we are limited by the organisers regarding the number of spectators we can accommodate. Learners not going as spectators may remain at home. The school offers supervision for those learners who are unable to stay at home for the morning. Kindly inform Ms Jacolien Lüneburg ([email protected]) if you would like to make use of the supervision at school. The buses should be back at school at approximately 20:30 if all goes according to the programme.

CAMPS This year’s camps, which start next week, have already been paid in full. Should a learner now withdraw from the camps without a valid reason, you will be responsible for the total cost thereof.

Academics

LEARNER’S AND DRIVER’S LICENCES We understand that getting appointments for learner’s and later driver’s licences is not easy. However, we urge you not to make these appointments on days when scheduled tests are written. (See school diary for test dates.) Learners can therefore not be excused from scheduled tests for licence appointments.

APPLICATIONS TO SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES ABROAD An ever-increasing number of learners apply for admission to schools and universities overseas. These institutions require what is generally known as a “transcript” as part of the application process. Please note that these “transcripts” will be issued at a cost of R300-00. Contact the Head of Academics in this regard.

Sport The summer sport season is drawing to a close with last weekend’s Finsbury Series cricket matches and this week’s inter-high swimming gala. Tomorrow we have the A-league inter-high athletics meeting at the Ruimsig Stadium. Good luck to all the athletes and spectators. The swimmers made us proud with their fourth place overall in the A-league and the cricket finished third in their group.
