o An integrated and dynamic information system. Combines the needs of all sides, involved in the education process! For teachers – pupil marks, attendances and reports, for parents – information about marks, attendances and home tasks, for pupils – social environment, where one can exchange ideas, opinions, and also check out the latest information on marks and home tasks.

o System analyzes pupil marks by several parameters;

o The project of state matter - system e-klase in Latvia is officially concerted with the Ministry of Science and Education;

o In Latvia e-klase is used by more than 600 schools and the number is constantly increasing;

o E-klase system satisfies requirements of XXI century education standards and is a significant contribution to education systems’ enhancement.

History

The project e-klase was initiated in 2005 with the goal of making it easier for teachers to prepare various reports, to provide centralized information exchange system for all state educational institutions, schools, pupils and parents as well as improve parents’ knowledge of their kids’ progress at school.

System's entity :

• to ease the teachers work flow,

• To automate information exchange between state educational institutions,

• to improve parents’ knowledge of their kids’ progress at school,

• To let schools save on stationery.

E-klase is the most popular school information system in Latvia. Approx. 610 (out of 870) schools are registered (including technical schools and colleges); Approx. 1 million marks are entered in the system daily; About 80 thousand parents are visiting the system daily.

System:

• can be adapted according to state institution needs,

• can be adapted according to other country’s needs.

• a WEB-based system, with centralized data storage and procession;

• user access to the system is provided via Internet and any Internet browser, no special computer and OS requirements

• data is stored and processed in a data center (MS SQL data bases).

• encoded data transmission, user access limitation up to computer’s IP address;

• an on-the-fly linkage with state registers is possible;

• a user authorization system similar to secure internet bank authorization systems can be used;

• a use of an e-signature can be provided.
