Geography Coursework and visit to Derby - Mon 7 November 2011

We are planning a visit to Derby as a vital part of your child's GCSE Geography coursework. The visitwill be the first part of 8 hours controlled assessment and will be worth 15% of their marks forGCSE. ,.

The visit will take place on Monday 7th November (all year 11 groups will visit on the same day).Travel will be by coach, and we will leave school at approximately 9:00am and return by 3:15pm intime for the school buses. During the day pupils will be working in small groups collectinginformation about residential areas. They will not be under immediate supervision of a teacher,although they will be in the same area. It is important therefore that they carefully followinstructions given and work only where they are asked to do so. We would also like them to makesure that they stay with the other pupils who they are asked to work with and act in a sensible andsafe way. They will need to dress warmly, with a water-proof coat, since they will be outside all day.They should bring a pen and pencil, and may also feel the need to bring a clipboard.

In order to cover the cost of this trip a voluntary contribution of £4.00 per pupil is required to coverthe cost of transport. There is no obligation to contribute and pupils will be treated the samew~ether or not a contribution has been received, but this and future visits may be in jeopardy, as wedo not have any other alternative way offunding the visits. Parents may claim remission ofthis costif the pupil is in receipt of Free School meals. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or by the onlinepayment method. Please note if payment is made online the completed reply slip must still bereturned to the office.

I would be pleased if you could complete the form provided and return it to the school reception inthe payment envelope provided with both your child's and his/her geography teacher's name on it.Thank you.
