School closure guidance
Supporting schools in EnglandThe Keys Federation is an academy trust consisting of four primary schools in Wigan.
The school has placed digital learning at the heart of its plans to prepare for potential upcoming school closures, using CENTURY to enable this.
The school will use CENTURY’s AI to allow Key Stage 2 students to continue learning in a personalised way at home. The trust is also planning to use CENTURY’s assignment feature to set work for students to complete in English, maths and science. The trust will be using CENTURY in combination with email to communicate work with parents and students.
Wapping High School is a free school in East London.
Wapping plans on using both CENTURY’s learning and diagnostic assessment functions to help students to learn and to inform their teachers and parents of progress.
Teachers will be asking students questions based on their learning on CENTURY. Teachers will be able to use this data to suggest other material for them to learn, or challenge and stretch them based on their learning on the platform.
Many schools internationally have been forced to shut due to the Coronavirus. CENTURY has been supporting thousands of students to continue learning despite this disruption. If your school shuts please have a look at our guidance to help your students and teachers during this difficult time.
CENTURY for your studentsDistance Learning with CENTURYIn the event of a school closure, all schools will be working to ensure learning continues, particularly for those approaching exams. We hope these suggestions will help you get the best out of CENTURY for your staff and students.
Key considerations when planning distance learning:
What access do staff and students have to technology at home?
How will parents and guardians be engaged?
How will the use of CENTURY integrate with other types of work?
How will expectations be communicated to students?
Note: Students must complete at least one diagnostic from each subject in order to have a personalised pathway. Diagnostics will appear automatically at the beginning of students’ pathways. Teachers can set specific diagnostics if they want to, but this isn’t necessary for CENTURY to work.

CENTURY for your studentsIf school does have live webinar software
Usage 1 - Teachers will explain a concept to the class, then set a nugget for students to answer. Based on the results, teachers can intervene.
Teach concept
Set relevant nugget via the Planner
Teacher checks Markbook or Nugget Tab and analyses data
Teacher intervenes where necessary via webinar software with individual students as others continue
Students re-attempt the nugget through My Courses
Teacher timestamps markbook to ensure students are studying.
Usage 2 - Revision. Most effective if students have recently completed mockexams or have a list of topics they need to study from the subject teacher
Students go into My Courses and select the appropriate nuggets to study
Teacher timestamps markbook to ensure students are studying
Students can check My Dashboard and see their areas for development to guide them to the relevant nuggets if required.
Teachers can intervene with students via agreed means.
