This is our 3rd installment of our Milestones Practice Challenge for 3rd-5th grade students and parents! This week we are looking at the English Language Arts (ELA) section (click here for 3rd, here for 4th, here for 5th). Additionally, all parents can take a sample test (this is different from the above tests) as these are not grade specific. Click here, select Test Practice, EOG Online Tools Training, EOG Test Practice, Standard Online Tools and login with the information provided.

Café News Effective May 10, NO CHARGES WILL BE ALLOWED FOR BREAKFAST AND LUNCH! If your student does not have enough

money in their account, they will be served an alternative lunch item instead of choosing something from the menu. Remember that lunch costs $2.45 and Breakfast costs $1.10. If your student has a balance due on their meal account at the end of the school year, they will not receive a report card. Funds may be added by sending in cash or a check with your student, or you

can visit www.mypaymentsplus.com and add funds to your account. You can also see the history of your student’s purchases. If your student still has funds on their lunch card at the end of the school year, those funds will transfer to the next school year.

All birthday celebration requests for treats during lunch in the cafeteria must be submitted by FRIDAY, MAY 10. Any forms for

treats submitted after that date will not be honored. We will be able to fulfill requests for birthday celebrations until Tuesday, May 21.

Great News…. New Playgrounds coming real SOON! Last summer we were supposed to receive new playgrounds, however the project had to be delayed. They are ready to move forward and would like to begin demolition and installation April 1. Over Spring Break, construction teams will be on campus to fence off “work areas” and begin demolition of the old playgrounds and installation of the new ones. Exits will still be available at the back of the building with access to the fields via the sidewalks. Recess will be held on the field following Spring Break through the end of the school year to allow for install and time for the new grass to root. It will be super enticing to play on the new playgrounds, or run on the new grass. We are asking that everyone stay off the equipment and grass to give it time to root, so that it can grow to be healthy and green. We truly appreciate everyone’s help with this so our new playground areas

will be beautiful and ready to go in August.

PTO Volunteeers Your Shakerag PTO needs YOU! The PTO is currently recruiting volunteers for the 2019-2020 board and we sure would hate for

you to miss out on the ability to serve your awesome school, community and our amazing teachers and kids! We have needs of varying levels from Co-President to VP roles to many chair positions as well, whatever your interest level may be, we are confident we can find the perfect fit for you. Please email us at [email protected] with your interest and/or any questions you may have and we’ll be happy to discuss with you. We look forward to hearing from you and having you be a part of the Shakerag PTO fun!

Summer STEM/Robotics Camp Our summer camp registration is now open! If your child(ren) has a love for science and enjoys constructing various models using LEGO® pieces and/or loves to program their models and bring them to life, they will love our STEM/Robotics camp. We are having our annual Summer STEM/Robotics Camp for grades K – 5th. Each week will be a blend of robotics and STEM related activities. Our camp will be limited to 30 students per week. The theme of camp this year is “A Trip to Outer Space”. Campers will be launching rockets, programming robots, and so much more. For more information, please visit our ASL website.

Procedures for Visiting & Volunteering

For the 2018-2019 school year, all volunteers must complete the registration process again. The registration process can be found on the FCS District Website under Community/Partners & Volunteers or click here. Applicants should be prepared to

spend about 10-15 minutes for the training and application process. In accordance with State Law, all volunteers must be current with the Child Abuse Reporting Protocol Training before being allowed to volunteer in our schools. It is very important that volunteers enter their full legal name as it appears on their government issued ID.

School Governance We invite you to visit our School Governance Council (SGC) website, which can be accessed by clicking here or via our school website (click here) under the ‘ABOUT’ drop-down menu. Our latest Strategic Plan as well as other relevant SGC information is posted to this site for your convenience. Our next SGC meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 9 at 7:15 a.m.

Enjoy your Spring Break!
