Makhia Mamon, born and reared in Ruston by way of a three-year stint in Arizona, is the

daughter of Ladarius and Jennifer Mamon and Dinia and Jonathan Strickland.

Makhia is currently a sophomore at Ruston High School. She is an Honor Roll student with a 3.9

GPA and plays the middle position for the High Schools Volleyball team. Although she has a full

schedule of classes and several after-school activities, Makhia’s favorite subjects are Talented

Art, Spanish, and AP World Geography. In her spare time, she enjoys various styles of art

including drawing, painting with different types of mediums, singing, and dancing. Makhia plans

on attending Louisiana Tech to major in Graphic Design and minor in photography.

The inspiration for Makhia’s company stemmed from her favorite song “You Glow Girl” by Aha

Gazelle which is a song that encourages and inspires girls to continue to work hard and do their

best by simply being themselves and shine brightly. Makhia used the message in the lyrics, her

want for teens to think, live, and be positive and make positive choices to create her very own

positive self-awareness line of t-shirts. Makhia is the CEO (Creative Edge Organizer), of her t-

shirt company, GLEAUX Apparel. GLEAUX is an acronym that stands for growth, life,

eagerness, ambition, uniqueness, and xenodochial-ness. Makhia believes that by simply

choosing to GLEAUX, ones outlook on themselves as well as life, in general, will be much

brighter!
