Participating applicants are given 24 hours to work with their assigned teammates toward a business solution for a given case study of a real-world business scenario. This event culminates in a 15 minute presentation that illustrates their teamwork, leadership, and problem solving skills. The most successful participants will receive an annual $15,000 scholarship to attend the University of Rochester. University of Puget Sound Lillis Scholar Academic performance in high school, measured by grade point average, rigor of high school curriculum, and performance on SAT or ACT, will be considered when selecting candidates. Lillis Scholars will be well positioned for candidacy for competitive undergraduate and postgraduate fellowships and scholarships, such as the Rhodes Scholarship, The Truman Scholarship, or the Watson Fellowship. Potential candidates for the scholarship must apply for admission to the university by January 15. The admission committee will invite 30 freshman applicants to submit a Lillis Scholarship. (2011/2012) University of Puget Sound Matelich Scholarship Scholarships are awarded annually to high-achieving members of the incoming freshman class who demonstrate exceptional motivation, excellent academic potential, a commitment to service, outstanding, integrity, and unmatched leadership potential. (2013/2014) Bank of America Charitable Foundation Student Leaders Student leaders participate in a paid summer internship with a designated local nonprofit organization where they experience first hand how they can shape their communities now and in the future. Deadline: March 15, 2015 (2014/2015) California Alarm Association Scholarships available to children of active duty law enforcement and fire service personnel in the State of California. An essay on how their parent or guardian helps secure their community is required. Application available in the career center. Deadline: March 27, 2015 (2014/2015) California Association of Collectors Inc. Scholarship is based upon a simple one-page application and a three to four page essay on “Importance of Establishing and Maintaining Good Credit during your College Years. Application available at www.cacesf.org. Deadline: January 20, 2016 (2015/2016) California-Hawaii Elks Association Vocational Grant Program $1,000 grants to students enrolling in a two-year or less vocational/technical course culminating with a terminal associate degree, certificate or diploma. Students planning to transfer to a four-year school to pursue a bachelors degree are not eligible for this program. The grants are renewable for a second year. Deadline: October 26, 2012 (2012/2013) California Teachers Association Applicant must be a member of an under-represented group, be attending high school or community college, and pursuing a degree at an accredited four-year institution beginning in 2015, and a credential for a teaching career in Pre-K-12 Public Education. (2015/2016) California Wine Grape Growers Foundation This scholarship is available to High School Seniors whose parent or legal guardian is a vineyard employee of a California Wine Grower. Four and two year scholarships are offered. Applications are available at www.cwggf.org and in the Career Center. Deadline: March 25, 2016 (2015/2016) Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride scholarship that covers a student’s tuition, room, board and expenses for four years of undergraduate study and leadership training. Students of any background, planning to pursue any academic discipline of study in college may apply to this non-partisan, need-blind program. Deadline: April 1, 2011 Chi Am Circle Club Scholarships available to seniors of Asian descent who demonstrate academic excellence as well as involvement in the school and community. Chinese-American Chamber of Commerce Scholarships are available to seniors of Asian descent who have exhibited good academic abilities as well a commitment to community service. An essay on the topic “How Ethics Benefits Society” and a handwritten autobiography in about 100 words are required. Applications available at www.cacc-sc.org or in the career center. Deadline: June 3, 2012 (2011/2012) Civil Service Employees Insurance Group Available to high school seniors who are children of full-time or retired public employees. Scholarships will be awarded based on the merit of student essays that propose ways to reduce the accident rate among teenagers. Deadline: May 11, 2012 (2011/2012) Club Estrella Scholarships available to students of Mexican-American, Chicano, Mexican, or Latin Ancestory. Applicants will be considered based on autobiographical statement, financial need, academic achievement, interview and letters of recommendation. (2010/2011) Gates Millennium Scholars 1,000 students in the 2011/2012 academic year as Gates millennium Scholars. You must be choosing to study in: computer science, education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health or science, the scholarship can continue through the pursuit of a doctoral degree. Deadline: January 11, 2012 (2011/2012) Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary To qualify students must have volunteered in a health care setting and have served at least 100 hours within the past two years and be interested in a career in health care. An essay, letter of recommendation from a teacher and a copy of school transcripts are required. Applications are available in the career center.
