Scheduling Course Assignments
through Faculty Load and Compensation (FLAC)
To improve and automate “Letter of Appointment” and payroll processes, CNM
Academic School Staff will enter faculty pay information into Banner.
1. Log into Banner and go to SIAASGN
A. Add Position Number B. Add Suffix C. Verify Contract type and change as needed D. Verify Workload for accuracy

A. Position Number
Full time faculty within load – no position number is necessary
Offset for full time faculty – enter “OFFSET” in the position number field.
Overload for full time faculty – the position number will be a “V” followed by the organizational code that the class is charged to. Refer to your school’s list of job numbers (Appendix C).
Dual credit taught by an APS instructor at their school during their normal work hours (external entity paying instructor for course) - enter “NO-PAY” in the position number field.
Dual credit taught by a CNM faculty instructor (CNM paying instructor for course) - follow directions below for CNM part time faculty
Course taught by an outside agency’s employee (such as a financial institution or hospital; external entity paying instructor for course) – enter “NO-PAY” in the position number field.
Part time faculty - the position will be a “B” followed by the organizational code that the class is charged to. Refer to your school’s list of job numbers (Appendix C).
If correct position number/entry is unavailable, contact CNM Payroll for assistance. See contact list (Appendix A).
B. Position Number Suffix Assign suffixes according to the list below. For each instructor and job position combination the suffix series will begin at A. Classes taught by full time instructors within load do not require a suffix.
Fall Begin with an “A” (AA, AB, AC…), Overloads & Offsets begin with a “Z” (ZA, ZB, ZC…)
Spring Begin with a “B” (BA, BB, BC…), Overloads & Offsets begin with a “Y” (YA, YB, YC…)
Summer Begin with a “C” (CA, CB, CC…), Overloads & Offsets begin with an “X” (XA, XB, XC…)
No Load Begin with an “N” (NA, NB, NC…) (Stacked course, Internship, Cooperative Education, Independent Studies with less than 5 students, Dual Credit, Partner
Contracts, etc.) Enter 0% responsibility and do not change workload. Example: For an instructor teaching two Health courses and an EMS course - BD2006 (position number), CA (suffix), BD2006 (position number), CB (suffix); BD4004 (position number), CA (suffix). A different instructor also teaching two Health courses plus a single student EMS independent study would also use a suffix series starting with A (rather than continuing where the first left off) – BD2006 (position number), CA (suffix), BD2006 (position number), CB (suffix), BD4004 (position number), NA (suffix). If correct position number suffix is unavailable, contact CNM Human Resources for assistance. See contact list (Appendix.

C. Contract Type
Full time faculty within load – do not change the default contract type “FI”
Offset for full time faculty– enter contract type “OF”
Overload for full time faculty – o CHSS and MSE – refer to chart below
Instructor Degree
Level Course credit hours
2 or less 3 4 or more
Bachelors O1 O1 O1
Masters O1 O1 O2
Doctorate O1 O2 O2
o All other schools – enter contract type “O1” o Intersession course all schools should substitute an I for the O
Dual credit taught by an APS instructor at their school during their normal work hours (external entity paying instructor for course) - enter contract type “DC” (Dual Credit).
Dual credit taught by a CNM faculty instructor (CNM paying instructor for course) - follow directions below for CNM part time faculty.
Course taught by an outside agency’s employee (such as a financial institution or hospital) – enter contract type “PC” (Partner Contract).
Part time faculty o Courses which start in the first week of term - the default contract type,
“P1”, does not need to be changed. o Courses that begin after the first week of the term - change the contract
type according to the contract type list (attached). The start date of the class will determine what contract type to use.
o Courses that are taught during the intersession – a contract code type has been added to the list (attached). A column for overload has been added due to the intersession classes.
o Courses entered in SIAASGN after start of course – treat class as if the first part of term following the entry date were the start date for the class (ie a full term class being entered in the 4th week would use the code for classes beginning in the 5th week). Courses with contract types associated with earlier start dates are not updated in the system; instructors will not be paid if the contract type for later start date is not used.
If correct contract type is unavailable, contact CNM Human Resources for assistance. See contact list (Appendix A).

Faculty Contracts / HR will run PEPFLAC on Friday afternoons, loading contract and pay
information into myCNM Self Service channel. A per term timeline will be provided for
locking contracts and making LOA information visible to faculty. Additionally, the dates
for notification of changes to HR and Payroll will be on the same timeline.
2. Log into myCNM A. Enter your User Name B. Enter your Password
10/2013 Page 6
3. Select the Employees tab and then click on the Pay Information link in the “Online services for employees” channel.
10/2013 Page 7
4. Click on the Employee tab, click Faculty Load and Compensation and then Faculty Compensation Administration will appear, click here.
10/2013 Page 8
5. Select the correct “Extract Term” and select your Academic School from the “College” box.
10/2013 Page 9
Records will be locked by the Faculty Contracts department. Once records are locked,
faculty can view and acknowledge their course assignments through myCNM.
To acknowledge course assignments, faculty will log into myCNM, select the Employee
tab, click “Pay Information” in the “Online services for employees channel”. Faculty then
click “Faculty Load and Compensation” and click “Compensation and
Acknowledgement”. This will provide them their LOA information.

Instructor changes (after close of schedule entry period) If an instructor is added to a course that did not previously have an instructor, follow the information above except for the contract type for part time faculty. Use the contract type associated with courses starting in the first pay period after the instructor information is entered. If an instructor is being removed from a course prior to teaching any classes, look at the compensation extracted and compensation applied fields in SIAASGN (see red arrows on Banner screenshot on next page). If neither box is checked, you may delete the instructor and do not need to contact Payroll or HR. If the compensation extracted box is checked but the compensation applied box is not, select “yes” in the “Remove Instructor” column when completing the CNM Class Cancellation Form (found on your school’s Sharepoint Waitlist and Schedule Update page: https://share.cnm.edu/SiteDirectory/ss/waitlist/default.aspx) or remove instructor and replace with new instructor and email the HR faculty contract contact to inform them of the change. If the compensation applied box is checked, set the percent of responsibility field in SZASEC2 to 0% but do not delete the instructor. Follow the instructions above for the Class Cancellation Form and contact the school’s designated Payroll Specialist as well as HR to inform them of the change. If the instructor for a course changes, enter the percentage of the course the new instructor will be teaching in the percent of responsibility field in SZASEC2. Enter the new instructor as described above (for classes with TBA instructors). Change the percent of responsibility for the old instructor to reflect the percentage of the class they taught. Use 0% if the instructor did not teach but the compensation applied box is checked. Do not delete the instructor. Contact Payroll and HR (as described above) to inform them of the change. Complete the % Change Form (in Excel; see screenshot on next page) for HR identifying old percent responsibility and new percent responsibility. Email form to the HR faculty contract contact.
