WELCOME TO THE 2016 BLUEPRINT FOR ATHLETES IRONMAN BOULDER!

WHERE TO WATCH:All spectators must ride the shuttles to the Boulder Reservoir to watch your athlete kick off their day. There is no other access to the swim besides the shuttle. Do not attempt to drive, walk or ride a bike to the Reservoir.

Head to the intersection of 75th Street and Hygiene Rd. and hang out at the Purple Door Market to see your athletes pass through twice! Or, take HWY 119 North to Airport Rd. and turn left on Airport Rd. to 17th Street, then head west on 17th Street.

Boulder City Library Lawn, Scott Carpenter Park, and the Boulder High School are all excellent viewing areas to see your athlete many times.

The finish line will be located at 13th St. and Arapahoe Ave. The first athletes are expected to cross the finish line around 3 pm. Don’t miss it!

Friends and family members will not be permitted into the finish chute/finish line in order to ensure the safe-ty of all participants, volunteers, and fans. For safety reasons, we also ask you do not attempt to follow your athlete on the course by car. You will not be allowed into the Medical Area to look for your athlete. There will be a Medical Information Area next to the tent where medical updates will be available on athletes who enter the tent.

Remember: You will need to take the shuttle bus from Boulder High School to get to swim start at the reservoir on race morning. There is no other access by car or by foot!

In 1978, 15 men participated in the very first IRONMAN triathlon on the bustling streets of Honolulu, Hawaii. IRONMAN consists of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112-mile bike and a 26.2-mile run, in succession. This event serves as one of the many qualifying events across the globe for the IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Ha-waii every October.

Nestled at the foot of the imposing Flatirons, Boulder, Colorado is already a wildly popular home-base and vacation destination for triathletes. The city’s health-conscious culture, near-perfect weather and breathtaking natural environment made it an instant favorite when it debuted last year. Boulder’s robust downtown, with its famous pedestrian-only Pearl Street Mall and idyllic Boul-der Creek, will provide families and fans an unforgettable race day as they wait for their loved ones to cross the finish line. From five-star hotels to James Beard award-winning restaurants, Boulder’s hotel and dining options are some of the best in the nation.
