    This is the third in a series of integrated skills courses designed to dev elop listening, speaking and pronunciation skills of high intermediate ESL students. Activ ities, which include listening exercises, role-play , pair work, small and large group discussions, interv iews, oral presentations, and pronunciation drills (f ocusing on English sounds, rhy thm and intonation), are presented in the context of relev ant, contemporary , and intellectually challenging themes. This course is designed especially f or students with academic objectiv es but is highly appropriate f or students with personal language goals, as well.     ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE

    This course is designed f or second language learners that want to prepare f or the United States Citizenship test giv en by the Department of Immigration and U. S. Naturalization Serv ices. The f ocus will be on communicativ e English skills and knowledge of American History and Gov ernment required f or passing the test to become a citizen of the United States. Readings are at the high-beginning/low-intermediate ESL lev el and will f ocus on the historical period beginning in the 1600's on through to 1980.
