NOTES FROM THE CONDO BOARD
What an incredible summer we are having. The waterfront events have
been such a part of the Nautica lifestyle. The Social Committee is
creating a community environment that so many people are enjoying.
Our pool area is now open and being well received by those who have
taken advantage of the facility. As a Board we continue to focus on
issues as they arise and moving the initiatives forward to seeing our
building complete.
Some key things that we have been working on:
Web Site & Newsletter Masthead: A web site is being developed for
37 Ellen St. Preliminary work has been completed and approved. Our
address will be www.nauticacommunity.ca. Launch is expected by mid
September. The web site will include our newsletters (last three issues),
all forms, rules and regulations, updates and contact information. Once
it is launched we will welcome your feedback and ideas on how to
make this an effective communication tool for our residents. The web
site will be password protected for residents only. We would like to
thank one of our advertisers, Janette Lee of Scoopmedia, for
developing the web site and training Lauraleigh Brumwell and Marg
Arland on updating the site. Janette has also designed the new
masthead for our newsletter. She has done both of these at no charge.
Lighting: The auto sensor lighting was designed to save energy and
cost. Unfortunately there have been an extraordinary number of
burned out lights. The system is being tested to determine the best
approach to this situation.
Common Area Donations: We would like to thank our generous
residents for the donations that we have received for the common
area. To ensure that everything is taken into consideration for current
and future needs, a policy has been developed to evaluate all items
before they are accepted. This will be published on the web site.
Small Fobs: For security purposes, a six month expiry date is being
imposed on these fobs. Please make sure that you are aware of when
your fob will expire.
Security: Russell Security is now in place and trained. Should you
experience any problems, excessive noise or disturbances in the
evening, please call Security. The number is the same as the
superintendents' number – 705-333-8885. Security will visit the suite
that is causing the disturbance, take appropriate action, and inform you
of the result. The incident will also be logged in our files.
Page 1
Special Requests/Complaints: If you have a request for the management office, PLEASE put it in writing
and submit it to Rita. It is important that things be documented and prioritized. This is necessary to
ensure that the proper people are informed and the matter is handled in a timely and efficient manner.
Performance Audit Status: The audit is well on its way. Thank you for submitting your questionnaire.
We will keep you posted.
Election Day: Municipal election is scheduled for October 25th. There will be on-site voting on October
18th for Nautica residents only.
Enjoy the rest of your summer!!!

GOOD FOOD !!!
At the two pot luck dinners that some of the residents recently enjoyed, there were some delicious food
dishes. Would someone be interested in submitting a recipe to share with neighbours in the building?
When space permits, an occasional recipe would add a bit of variety to the newsletter.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOLKS!
The Knowles/Woolsey Team cordially invites you to a reception on Thursday September 16, 2010
from 6.30 pm – 8.30 pm in the Kempenfelt Room.
There will be a special gift presentation to the Nautica residents
at 7:00 pm.
We look forward to seeing you there.

BICYCLES
Bicycles are not permitted in the elevators, nor should they be ridden in the condo building, other than
in the garage. They must be carried, not ridden, and the stairs must be used rather than the elevators.
These restrictions are necessary in order to protect the carpets and elevators.
Page 4
POOL USAGE REMINDERS
PLEASE NOTE: Per Ontario’s Pool Regulations (Section 8C), every operator must keep a sign-in log setting
out total number of bathers admitted to the pool each day.
As such, please ensure that you sign in with every use, indicating the number of persons with you.
SOMETHING TO CONSIDER: Parents or guardians should consider that children past the toddler stage
should use the appropriate change room. Just something to think about – that maybe young boys should
use the men’s change room and young girls should use the women’s. It is, perhaps, having respect for
your fellow residents and their privacy.
WHAT IS IT?
Have you noticed this bird while walking through the Eco Park? Were you wondering what it was?
Here’s your answer – It’s a Double-crested Cormorant! They were quite unusual a few years ago but are
now multiplying at a great rate.
Thank you to Bryan Metcalf at 33 Ellen Street for providing this photo and information.
