Greetings Everyone,
July has been a great month for riding with events such as
Cedarbrook Lodge, Chrome on the Canal, Jacksons
Point, Fergus, Port Carling, Buckhorn and the 27th On-
tario Regional Rally in Sudbury "Ride the Rock". I would
like to extend special thanks to Howard and Kathy Sip and
Dip, and Rob and Bridgette's 2nd annual ride BBQ every-
one had a great time. Thanks to everyone who came out
to our Chapter events and helped with all the successful
rides that we've had in the Month of July!
Phil and I attended the Ontario Directors meeting in Sud-
bury. They announced the 28th Ontario Regional Rally will
be in Ottawa July 27-29, 2017. They had a 45 minute
power point presentation on this Rally and looks like it will
be very organized. They will have online registration with
the ability to choose the events, games, etc you would like
to attend online. This should give
them better statistics to plan the
event better. Finally I did receive our
Officer Patches.
Ride and Have Fun!

Directors Report
Cedarbrook Lodge visit 2 When we arrived at the lodge we were escorted in by one of the ladies in a wheel-chair. What a feeling to have everyone welcome us the way we were. We had a light breakfast and then had pictures with some of the residents on or beside our bikes. There is one young man (Raffi) there that really loves all the motorcycles and loves just to sit on them. What a great feeling for him. Glad we all could help him out. The two folks that are in wheelchairs we gave them Harley stickers for there bikes. They wanted to hear the bikes run so we started them up a couple of times and rode around the parking lot. We left around 12 o'clock. What a great day helping the Cedarbrook Lodge out again. Also on another note. The ride up North to Barb's and Darrell's place is coming quickly. August 26th. Dave or Corry will lead the ride up and I will meet everyone one half way. I have to work up north until the end of August. For food and rooms talk to Barb or give me a call. My cell is 416 898 5591. The ride on Saturday leaves from the Sprucedale hotel at 10am sharp. Dinner will be supplied by the Hotel on Saturday night, It's included in your ride fee. Bill and Maggie has said that they do not have a problem with any staying in there second cabin. I will need to know the numbers this month for the beds at both places. My rooms are booked already for those who have
said to me they are coming. Have fun and ride safe. Darrell

Howard and Kathy’s Ride, BBQ, Sip & Dip
The morning forecast didn’t look to good and might have
explained why only four bikes showed up to take in the ride
part of the day’s activities. Hollywood led John Anderson,
another new member named Steve and myself for a short
toot just outside of Port Perry to his niece Sue and her hus-
band Leo’s new house. Nice spread with a pool and huge
backyard. Back early enough to park the bikes and get to
Howard and Kathy’s house for 2 pm.
They had two lovely ladies serving the food all afternoon
as well as picking up after us which gave Howard and Kathy more time to spend with
their guests. And did I mention food. Howard wasn’t kidding when he said to bring
your appetite. It was non stop and too many dishes for me to name.
They were also prepared in case it rained with some tent cover, which it did on and
off until it turned into be a beautiful evening. Nice of Mackie H-D to lend them one of
their tents, it sure came in handy.
Chapter members who attended: Clayton, Nick, Mike and Lisa, Joe and Lori, the two
Johnny A’s with their gals Bridgette and Monica, Paul, Marshall and Heather, Cheapie
(the lone rider of the group) and new member Steve with his wife (it’s not going to be
the only name I forgot) and their kids who made good use of the pool. Kathy had
some of her colleagues from work. Howard’s sister and brother-law (who puts a ton of
miles on his German make bike down in the south/western States) where there. A
couple of old time friends and neighbors were also part of the crowd.
Along with their great backyard is a
really neat Harley shed where Kathy
parks her ride.
Anyway, thanks to Howard and
Kathy for opening up their home to us
and going all out, putting on a great
day.
Glad I went!

Regional Rally Sudbury 2016
Mike and I rode from Kitchener up to Tobermory on Wednesday afternoon as we
knew we couldn’t get up early enough the next morning to meet everybody at Nick’s
house in Georgetown. We arrived in Tobermory at 7pm and met Hollywood, Garry,
Mary, Clayton & Howard at a local restaurant for dinner.
Thursday morning we hooked up with the rest of Scarborough HOG at the docks for
the Chi Cheemaun ferry. We loaded and tied down our bikes on the ferry. It was a
smooth ride with great scenery. We arrived on Manitoulin Island about 1 ½ later and
some of us toured the island while others headed to the hotel. Wishing we had gone
back to the hotel instead of the tour of Manitoulin Island as the roads were not in the
best of shape. We finally arrived at the Travelodge in Sudbury where the Durham &
Toronto Chapters were also staying. We all partied into the wee hours of the night in
the courtyard of the hotel and we decided to make up our teams for the games being
held the next day. We had our dream teams, we knew we would kick some butt. We
had it all set.
Friday we all rode to the anticipated “Pig Roast” in Lavigne, Ontario. Obviously they
didn’t anticipate the large group as they ran out. There was no pig on a spit, no hog
with an apple in its mouth, no swine with its curly tail. It was dried out pulled pork sit-
ting in a tin foil container accompanied by canned beans in a crock pot followed by the
runniest coleslaw and stale buns.
We rode back to Sudbury after our disappointing Pig Roast only to learn we had
missed the games that we were so looking forward to. Next year for sure!
No time to relax, as we had to get ready for dinner at The Caruso Club. Must have
been 800+ members in attendance . A buffet dinner was served and we were enter-
tained (?) by a ventriloquist for 1 ½ hours. (seemed more like 3 hours).
Saturday was the parade of bikes through Sudbury. It always gives me chills to see
so many bikes. The parade brought us back to Bell Park where some of us stayed to
listen to the bands and others went sightseeing in and around the areas. My only
wish for this trip was to see was the “Big Nickel”. My love for live music won over as I
missed the trip to the Big Nickel.
Still no time to relax, it was back to the hotel to get ready for dinner and the awards
ceremony at Bell Park. BBQ Chicken and Ribs were on the menu tonight. It was an
excellent dinner and a great venue with lots of entertainment all day and night. I know
Scarborough Chapter would’ve won some chapter challenges if we had only partici-
pated in the games and not gone to that damn Pig Roast. con’t...
Hollywood, Lucky & Kathy left very early Sunday morn-
ing to head home. The rest of us left at 10am anticipating
a smooth, uneventful ride along the way. No such luck. I
think we were just outside Sudbury when Cheapie pulled
over to the side of the highway not feeling well. Hoping he
just needed some water, we all waited it out for a half
hour. Still not feeling well, we decided to call an ambu-
lance. With Cheapie now in the care of professionals for a
few hours and giving him fluids he started to feel better and
off we all went. We travelled a few kms down the road to a
restaurant. As Mike pulled into a parking spot he dumped
the bike with me on the back. I didn’t have time to react
and fell off injuring my elbow, hand and leg. After I got over
the initial shock I started to laugh as we really hadn’t trav-
elled very far and already had a hell of trip. Our next
stop was at the side of the road for a pee break. Mary
got off her bike and then all of the sudden half of her
was missing. She fell into what I think was a gopher
hole or quick sand. Her whole leg just disappeared.
Uninjured we all laughed again, got on our bikes to
only stop again to put on our rain gear.
The gang turned off on Highway 12 as we continued
on the 400 to head home hoping there were no other mis-
haps. It was a long day – 10 hours but wouldn’t change a
thing as every mishap/misstep brings out the goodness in
people. What a wonderful tight knit group Scarborough
Chapter is. Thanks for the fun memories!
Goldie (Aka Lisa)
In addition to Lisa’s story I just wanted to add a few other notes of our trip to the rally.
I set my alarm clock to an hour that I don’t think I could
ever get use to. I wasn’t the only one who raced out to
Nick’s place in Georgetown for a takeoff time of 7am for
Tobermory to catch the ferry to Manitoulin Island. Also ris-
ing early were Cheapie, Mik, Dave, Connor and Rob &
Bridgette who were traveling from Oshawa. Nick led us, his
two buddies Bill and Rick, and got us there for the scheduled arrival time of 10:40
where we met up with the rest of the group who came here yesterday, Clayton, Mike
and Lisa, Joe, Howard (Kathy would be coming Friday), Garry and Mary. After an
approx boat ride of 1.5 hrs, half took the short ride through the island and the other
half took the full ride around the island (this is where getting up so early in the morning
started to kick in). Once we settled in to our motel we headed to the Dealership “The
Rock H-D” where there was already a huge gathering of various Chapters to enjoy
food, live bands and great merchandise sales.
Saturday some of us hooked up with some members
from THOG for a ride. Murray from THOG led us to the
Big Nickel (sorry Lisa, who really wanted to see the Big
Nickel) and then up north on a very scenic hwy 144
until we were approx 175 kms south of Timmins, before
we decided to turn around and head back.
On Sunday the Paramedics were nice enough to let us take turns sitting in the cab
of the ambulance to cool off. There’s no shade on the side of hwy 69 near Sudbury.
Although all helped, kudos go to Mike who did a great job of describing and instructing
between the 911 dispatcher and that of Cheapies condition. I should also mention that
while we were waiting for Cheapie in the ambulance, we learned that Dave was plan-
ning on taking Mik to the hospital once they got home. We told them to take off, no
need for them to be waiting by the side of the road with us. As I write this story on
Monday, Mik is still in the hospital (hopefully for precautionary measures).
The rest of the trip was pretty normal. Along with some rain and Marry landing on
her cheeks that Lisa has already mention, Rob developed a leak from his primary but
thankfully he & Bridgette made it home ok. After leaving at 10 am we got home 6 pm.
Kudos also go to Garry and Mary who followed Cheapie all the way to his home.
The weekend was still a great time. Glad I went. Phill

Since taking over as chapter webmaster I’ve made some changes to our online
representation.
Our Facebook presence was originally set as a group. That was all fine and dandy,
but doesn’t allow us to represent ourselves online without it looking like an exclusive
click.
The new Scarborough Hog Facebook page, (facebook.com/scarboroughchapter) is
more so for community involvement and promoting our rides to more people.
I have created a private Facebook chat group for active members only. If you want
to be involved in chapter related banter please send the New Scarborough Chapter
Facebook page a message and I’ll add you into the private Facebook chat group.
