SCANIA BUS RANGE

SCANIA VERSATILE, FLEXIBLE AND EFFICIENT BUSES

The complete city bus solution

Modern buses for the cities of today

In today's congested cities, the desire to

improve public transport rides higher on the

agenda than ever before. And now, to meet

the demands of local authorities, operators and

an ever-more discerning travelling public,

Scania has developed a range of city buses

which offer a comprehensive solution for every

urban, suburban and inter-urban situation.

With their sleek, smooth lines, broad

selection of interior layouts and outstanding

performance day-in day-out, Scania city buses

are available in a choice of super low-floor and

low-entry single-deck and articulated variants,

and super low-floor double deckers.

Modular design for greater efficiency in

operation

Every chassis in the Scania bus range family is

based upon Scania's modular-design concept.

This means a wide number of components are

shared across the range in an efficiency-

enhancing measure which helps lower parts-

stocking costs, standardise and simplify

maintenance procedures and thereby reduce

downtime. In OmniCity and OmniLink models,

this philosophy also extends to the bodywork.

Scania buses are equipped as standard with

Scania's nine-litre engine, which is available in a

choice of horsepowers and fuel type,

depending upon the model chosen.

Final drive for all Scania buses is by way of

ZF five or six-speed fully-automatic gearboxes,

ensuring passengers enjoy a smooth and

comfortable ride at all times.

Putting the passenger and operator first

In common with every other product built by

Scania, the company's bus range has been

designed with the needs of the customer firmly

at the fore. Accordingly, passengers and

operators were consulted extensively during the

development phase.

As a result, all Scania buses are light, airy

and offer internal accommodation which is

configurable to suit all types of operations,

needs and requirements. Particular attention

has been paid to passenger flow, both in terms

of access and exit and when it comes to moving

through the vehicle.

From the perspective of the driver, an

ergonomically-designed area ensures all

controls are close to hand. And with large

windows all round, the Scania bus range also

provides excellent visibility.

Last – but certainly not least – each vehicle's

strong and resilient monocoque aluminium

bodywork makes the Scania bus range one of

the safest on our roads today.

The Scania OmniCitysingle-deck bus

A fully built-up workhorse

Intended primarily for use in intensive urban

operations where the stops are many and the

average speed low, the Scania OmniCity has

been adapted for high passenger flows. As

such, examples typically feature few seats and

multiple doors.

The Scania OmniCity features a super low-

floor over the entire length of the vehicle, with

safety enhanced by a 100mm kneeling capability.

The vehicle has a rear-mounted transverse

engine, which offers excellent access for

servicing and maintenance.

The Scania OmniLinksingle-deck bus

The ideal multi-purpose solution

In operations demanding a combination of

urban, suburban and inter-urban running, the

low-entry Scania OmniLink provides a built-for-

purpose solution. Models typically feature

more seats than the OmniCity, with the majority

forward-facing.

Like its sister vehicle, the Scania OmniLink is

a fully built-up, high quality vehicle entirely

designed and manufactured by Scania.

And with its rugged construction, high

performance and a choice of engine power

outputs to maximise efficiency in operation,

the Scania OmniLink is a highly cost-effective

option too.

The OmniLink's longitudinally-mounted

engine allows the vehicle's low-floor to run to

just ahead of the rear axle. In common with the

OmniCity, full side kneeling promotes easy and

safe passenger entry and exit.

To ensure ease of maintenance, all daily

inspection points are conveniently located

and positioned nearby to each other.

An additional option with a choice of power

sources

Scania/ADL single-deck buses provide an

additional option to the Scania Omni family of

single-deck buses.

Offered as 12m overall length vehicles,

Scania/ADL buses are available in two formats:

the diesel-powered E300S and the Compressed

Natural Gas (CNG) or Bio Gas-fuelled E300SG.

While both options are durable, powerful

and fully equipped to deal with the rigours of

day-to-day operation, the E300SG offers the

environmental advantage of being classified as

carbon-neutral when operated on a sustainable

source of fuel.

With only 40 different components required

in its manufacture, Scania's gas engine

maintains great commonality with its diesel-

fuelled counterparts. This means no parts

supply or maintenance issues, plus support will

always be there via Scania's nationwide dealer

network wherever and whenever it may be

needed.

Both Scania ADL E300 models exhibit high

levels of passenger safety and comfort and are

ideally suited to all types of bus operation.
