Our board is comprised of dedicated individuals who volunteer their time to improve the quality of life for themselves and others in the community. I am so grateful to the members of the community who volunteer their time and efforts to bring our community closer together, through events, programming, and so much more. Updates from the Stonebridge community association: Coming up on September 7 th will be our fabulous Movie in the Park. This is always a favourite event for the neighbourhood and we are grateful to our volunteers and sponsors who help make it happen. Look for more details on our facebook page and website! Registration for fall events will be online, from August 20 th to September 7 th . More information is in this newsletter, but please refer to our website for the most up-to-date details. Remember that each family will have to purchase a community association membership to register for Stonebridge programs this fall, as all memberships expire July 31 st of each year. (Stonebridge programs are open to residents of other neighbourhoods as well; Stonebridge will honour valid community association memberships from another neighbourhood.) We’re all getting excited about planning for our rink (to be located adjacent to the spray park) and fundraising for the construction! If you are interested in helping out, let us know! President’s Message

Greetings from the Community Association! Our board is comprised of dedicated individuals who volunteer their time to improve the quality of life for themselves and others in the community. I am so grateful to the members of the community who volunteer their time and efforts to bring our community closer together, through events, programming, and so much more.

Updates from the Stonebridge community association:

Coming up on September 7th will be our fabulous Movie in the Park. This is always a favourite event for the neighbourhood and we are grateful to our volunteers and sponsors who help make it happen. Look for more details on our facebook page and website!

Fall Programs

PROGRAMS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE – VISIT OUR WEBSITE FOR THE LATEST (ourstonebridge.ca)

Online sign up will begin Monday, August 20th and end on Monday, September 10th, 2018 at ourstonebridge.ca. In-person

payment drop-off will be held on Thursday, September 13th, from 7:00PM-8:00PM at the Community Resource Centre at the

Chief Whitecap/St Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic School Joint-use building. (Use Community Entrance). A non-refundable

membership fee of $10 per family per year is required to participate in programs and must be purchased or presented at the

time of program sign-up (memberships expire each year on July 31st). A fee of $15 will apply to late registrations. Programs

may change. Please consult the website (ourstonebridge.ca) for the latest program information. SCA honours other

community association memberships. Cost-as-a-barrier assistance and/or KidSport applications are available for those

facing financial hardships. To inquire/apply, please contact Michelle at [email protected] or ask a volunteer at

payment drop-off night. All inquiries are kept confidential.

PRESCHOOL BALLET

A happy introduction to dance. Ages 3 & 4. Day/time TBD. Dates: TBD. Location: Multi-purpose room. Cost: $50

HIP-HOP

A happy introduction to dance. Ages 5 to 7. Day/time TBD. Dates: TBD. Location: Multi-purpose room. Cost: $50

JAZZERCISE

High intensity mix of dance-based cardio and strength training for a calorie-crushing total body workout.Ages 16+.Monday

6:00pm-7:00pm. Dates: TBD. Location: Multi-purpose room. Cost: $50

YOGA

An introductory class for those who have little to no experience with yoga, or for experienced students who want to bring it

back to basics. Ages 16+. Tuesday 6:30pm-7:30pm. Dates: TBD. Location: Multi-purpose room. Cost: $50

BUNS & GUNS

This ultimate body sculpting class will feature exercises to tone and reshape the arms, glutes, and legs while strengthening

the core. Ages 16+. Tuesday 7:30pm-8:30pm. Dates: TBD. Location: Multi-purpose room. Cost: $60

TODDLER TIME

A social for parents toddlers to meet and play. Ages 0-3. Choose either Monday 10am-11:30am or Friday 10am-11:30am.

Dates: TBD. Location: Circle Drive Alliance Church. Cost: $40

ART CLASS

Introducing children to simple fundamental drawing skills and understanding. Ages 6-10. Thursday 7:00pm-8:00pm. Dates:

TBD. Location: Community Resource Room. Cost: $50, plus materials (kids should bring their own sketchbook or notebook

and pencil crayons to class)

MIXED MEDIA ART CLASS

Ages 16+. Mondays 6:00pm-9:00pm. Dates: TBD. Location: Community Resource Room. Cost: $90 plus materials

DROP-IN FAMILY BADMINTON

Courts and shuttles provided - no scheduled games - just come along, singly or in pairs/groups and arrange a game with

other participants. Aimed at adults, but children are welcome (when accompanied by an adult (18+). Monday 8:00pm-

10:00pm. Dates: TBD Location: Chief Whitecap Gym. Cost: $15 per participant

KINDER SOCCER

Learning basic soccer skills while having fun! Coaches are needed - please consider signing up to coach when registering

(no experience necessary!) Kids born in 2015 & 2016. Choose either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday 6pm-6:45pm.

Dates: TBD. Cost: $40

INDOOR SOCCER: U5 TO U9

Indoor Soccer Season runs from October 21, 2018 to March 2019. Saskatoon Youth Soccer will schedule the games for

U5, U7 and U9; the Stonebridge CA does not have control over the schedule. Practices are at the discretion of the coaches

and will be scheduled by the coaches. Players will require shin guards, socks and either cleats or running shoes; a team

jersey will be provided for the season. We do not have a limit for on-time registrations, but we do need coaches to volunteer

for the number of teams/players registered. Please consider volunteering to coach!!Certification for coaches is offered

through Saskatoon Youth Soccer – any certification fees will be covered by either SYSI or the community association.

Registrations will be canceled and refunded if the team does not have a coach.

Under-5 COED (born 2014): REGULAR GAMES Monday @ 6pm – 10 games over the course of the season,

played in elementary school gyms both in Stonebridge and surrounding neighbourhoods. PLUS 5 games one

Sunday per month at SaskTel Sports Centre (150 Nelson Rd) on turf. Practices are TBD. Cost $90

Under-7 BOYS/GIRLS (born 2012 / 2013):10 regular games Sundays at Henk Ruys Soccer Centre (219 Primrose

Dr.) on hardcourt surface. PLUS 5 games Sundays at SaskTel Sports Centre (150 Nelson Rd) on turf. (various

times). 4v4 games (including keeper). Practices are TBD. Cost: $110

Under-9 BOYS/GIRLS (born 2010 / 2011):. 10 regular games Mon/Tuesday at Henk Ruys Soccer Centre (219

YOUTH BASKETBALL

Spud (Gr 3 & 4 Coed) Cost $105, plus jersey

Mini (Gr 5 & 6, Boys & Girls) Cost $135, plus

Bantam (Gr 7 & 8, Boys & Girls) Cost: $155,

plus jersey fee (see below)

Fall league games for basketball will be on

Saturdays at various elementary or high

schools in the city and the league traditionally

starts the Saturday following the Thanksgiving

weekend. We are planning on having weekly

practices for each time (time/day for each

team is still TBD).

Players will be responsible for ordering /

purchasing an SMBA basketball jersey –

details will be provided prior to the start of the

season. This jersey will remain the property of

the player.

The Dunkaroos program (Gr 1 & 2) is available

by registering directly with the SMBA.

Fall Events

Movie in the Park

Free Movie in Alexander MacGillivray Young Park 8:00 p.m. Friday September 7th. Bring a blanket, bug spray and enjoy an evening outside with family and neighbours! Check the SCA facebook page for the latest info.

Curbside Swap

The city-wide curbside swap this year is on September 8th. Place your unwanted items in good condition on your property (next to the side walk or curb) and mark them as free for anyone to pick up or go out on a treasure hunt of your own to find what your neighbors are giving away for free. https://bit.ly/2JteyTr

Terry Fox Run

This year's run will be held September 16, 2018, at the Bessborough Gardens. Registration begins at 11 a.m. Run start time is 12 p.m. [email protected]

Movie Night at Circle Circle Drive Alliance Church will be hosting a free family movie night featuring “Inside Out” Aug. 24th at 6pm at Circle Drive Alliance Church.
