� Accuracy of BMD ballot marks

� Op-Scan ballot configuration

�Test every position on the ballot to ensure that votes cast are being recognized by the scanner and marked correctly by the BMD.

Pattern Vote

• Provides test results which net unique results for each candidate in a given race

• Will test for the presence of under-votes when there is at least one multiple vote for contest on a ballot

Over-vote

�Only the correct number of candidates

can be voted for in any given contest

�No more candidates than the number

allowed can be selected (BMD)

�Alerts the voter of an over-vote.

�Overvote subdeck – replaced with print validation ballot (net savings approx 10 ballots per ballot style)

�Undervote subdeck- incorporated and tested via pattern testing (net savings approx 10 ballots per ballot style)

�Random subdeck- reduction from 20% to 10% of previous subdecks.

�BMD- print validation ballot(1) ballot, validates bmd is capable of printing or marking ballot, allows for confirmation of overvote via optical scanner.
