SBDAV Celebrates Annual Fiesta
SBDAV celebrated its Annual Fiesta 2014 “SPANDAN” . It was a day of fulfillment and a
proud moment for each one connected to SBDAV – the alumni and the parents who were a
part of this mass celebrations.
Shri Punam Suri, President,DAV College Managing Committee graced the occasion and the
programme was attended by the think tanks of DAV and the school’s local management. It
was a treat of dance and music. Students, with songs and dances ranging from pop to
socially relevant issues kept the capacity-filled pandaal at its feet as both the guests and the
faculties, describing the event as a huge success, ended the evening on a joyous note.
The guests were welcomed by the tiny tots doubled with the band composition by the
students. The Traditional lighting of the lamp was done by the honored guests followed by
the inauguration of the Renovated Chemistry lab. The DAV Anthem was sung at the
inception of the programme and the school principal, Anita Ahuja gave a floral welcome to
the guests. The school choir presented “Sargam”- a composition of the series of the
melodious songs . The Principal addressed the august gathering in line with the theme that
“ Education is a celebration and its chief object is to teach us to love what is beautiful”. The
chief dance performances for the day were first, a classical welcome dance, followed by a
performance on Environment “Sur Prakriti Se Milao” and the musical presentation by the
primary students “The Lion King”. “Mantra to Success” was a ballet performance by the
seniors which received acclamation by one and all. However, the chief highlight of the day
was the classical dance performance “Courage-Thy Name is Woman” . This classical piece of
solo performance depicted the famous scene when Draupadi faced molestation in front of
the elders of the family and very beautifully linked to Nirbhay stating that the conditions of
women hasn’t changed much over the centuries but with the positive note that change will
happen and the women will gain due respect in the country.
The Annual Function also showcased the achievements of the students and the school
under the stewardship of its Principal Anita Ahuja. Last but not the least the Words of
wisdom were shared by the Chief Guest and Shri T.R.Gupta, the school’s Vice Chairman, and
the programme ended with the Vote of Thanks from the School’s Manager, Shri J.K.Kapur.
