FUEL FILTER EXCHANGE

1.2. Reason

Inline Glass Fuel Filter (P/N: PI-530.010-1) installed in the SPLS may present leakage issues after maintenance inspection (removing and cleaning). It may also be the source of fuel smell in the cabin.

1.3. Subject

Inspection of the inline glass fuel filter for signs of leakage.

Exchange of the inline glass fuel filter with a new inline fuel filter made of aluminum with improved overall capabilities. This SB specifies a new inline fuel filter and provides instructions for replacement.

1.4. Compliance

MANDATORY

• The inspection of the installed inline glass fuel filter must be performed before next flight as described in the section 3 of this SB.

• In case leakage is noticed, the exchange of fuel filter must be done before next flight.

• If no leakage is detected, replacement of the fuel filter must occur during the next maintenance event or no later than 3 months from issuing of this SB.

3. Instructions

NOTE

The following procedure is applicable for Earl´s and Andair inline fuel filter installation.

1. Remove the lower baggage compartment.

2. Check inline glass fuel filter for leakage. In case leakage is noticed, the fuel filter exchange must be complied with prior to next flight.

3. Close the Shut Off and Selector Valve.

4. Remove the old fuel filter.

NOTE Use a tray in order to collect the small quantity of fuel that falls.

5. Install the hose fittings in the new fuel filter. Apply a torque between 75 - 125 in-lb.

• Torque recommended for hoses with outside diameter of 3/8 inches and Fittings - 6. Reference: FAA-H-

6. Install the new fuel filter in the fuel lines.

NOTE Check for the flow direction that is indicated in the fuel filter housing.

7. Tighten the ear clamps.

8. Open the Shut Off and Selector Valve and check for leakage.

9. Engine running test before flight is recommended.

10. Install the lower baggage compartment.
