Therefore, the paper trailing edge might flip up and hit the bottom of the process unit. When some impact is applied at this time, the image formed between the developer roller and drum might be distorted and horizontal streaks might appear at 105 mm from the paper trailing edge. Therefore, the following change was made. (Note 1) (Note 1) This phenomenon may be outstanding when printing graphic images. (No problem is expected when printing texts.) Content of Changes  The sponge with Mylar sheet affixed at the bottom of the process unit where the paper trailing edge hits was thickened by 3 mm in order to narrow the paper conveying path. Accordingly, paper trailing edge vertically sagging when it passes through the middle roller nip is now regulated and the impact at that time will be decreased.

edge waves

[Occurrence mechanism of the horizontal streaks]

1) Paper sags between the middle roller and the registration

roller due to the surface speed difference among the

rollers around the image process section.

2) When paper trailing edge passes through the middle

roller nip, the sagging part is released and the paper

trailing edge flaps vertically.

3) When the paper trailing edge hits the Mylar sheet with

sponge at the image process section due to flapping in

2), the image formed between the developer roller and

drum (at 105 mm from the paper trailing edge) is

distorted and the horizontal streaks appear.
