CONSTRUCTION WORK IN OPERATIONAL PROCESS AREAS

.A "Plan of Action" should be submitted in a timely manner prior to the work commencing.

.The appropriate SAUDI ARAMCO authority is to be notified and all necessary work permits obtained.

.Pipework of the live process system should not be used to support pipes and valves being rigged up.

.Pipes, valves and fittings should not be raised and left for long periods suspended on blocks and/or ropes. The work should be well planned and all pipes and fittings should be raised only when the location has been prepared and men are standing by to secure by tack welding, bolting, or packing into position.

.Extreme care is to be taken when moving new pipework into position to prevent knocking and damaging adjacent pipework, vessel nozzles, electric cables, sprinkler systems, and especially, instrument conduits.

.In the event of any damaged equipment, Operations must be notified immediately.

.Pneumatic tools and non-sparking tools should be used wherever practicable.

.Scaffolding should be properly constructed with hand rails and toe boards. The platform should be large enough to allow any work to be carried out safely and comfortably. Safe access to the scaffold must be provided.

The scaffold components must not rest on any existing facilities.
