  • AMT USER MANUALCONTENT :1-Quick Product Introduction2-User Interface3-Dos and donts

  • QUICK PRODUCT INTRODUCTIONThe AMT is obtained by adding to a Manual Transmission gearbox an hydraulic device called the ADD-ON. This component is in charge of controlling the various actuators involved in the mechanical operation of the gearbox, i.e.:

    - Clutch operation.- Gear selection

  • QUICK PRODUCT INTRODUCTIONApart from the Add-on, the AMT is a MANUAL TRANSMISSION, including a clutch and all the standard internal features of a manual transmission. The objective of this product is to mix the features of a manual transmission (5 gears, reasonable price, reliability) with the confort an fun-to-drive of an automatic transmission (automatic shifting mode, automatic handling of the clutch).

  • QUICK PRODUCT INTRODUCTIONTwo hydraulic actuators controlled by a Transmission Control Unit are used to produce the vertical (selection) and rotational (engage) movements of the gearshifting mechanism. On the AMT, these actuators are hydraulic jacks driven by electrovalves.

  • QUICK PRODUCT INTRODUCTIONThe complete robot includes 3 actuation jacks (2 which are used to control the gearshifting mechanism and 1 which is used to control the clutch) and 5 electrovalves. The oil pressure in the circuit is controlled using an electrical pump, a pressure sensor and an accumulator.

  • USER INTERFACENOTE :THE AMT IS CONTROLLED USING A SPECIFIC GEARSHIFTING LEVER

  • USER INTERFACEIN MANUAL MODE, THE DRIVER IS ONLY DECIDING WHEN TO CHANGE GEARS USING THE GEAR SHIFTING LEVER. THE GEARBOX THEN AUTOMATICALLY DRIVES THE ACTUAL GEAR SHIFTING MECHANISM AND THE CLUTCH.

THERE IS NO CLUTCH PEDALIN MANUAL MODE, THE DRIVER IS DECIDING WHEN TO CHANGE GEARS SIMPLY BY PUSHING THE GEAR SHIFTING LEVER TOWARDS FRONT (UPSHIFT) OR REAR (DOWN SHIFT). THE SMALL DISPLAY UNIT INTEGRATED TO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INDICATES THE CURRENTLY ENGAGED GEAR 1, 2,3,4, 5OR R.

  • USER INTERFACEIN AUTOMATIC MODE, THE GEARBOX DECIDES WHEN TO CHANGE GEARS TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE DRIVING CONDITIONS AND THE DRIVER DRIVING STYLE.

    THE FOLLOWING RESTRICTIONS APPLY:

1- THERE IS NO P (PARK) FUNCTION, BUT IT IS POSSIBLE TO STOP THE ENGINE WITH A GEAR ENGAGED (TO PARK IN A SLOPE FOR INSTANCE). WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE DRIVER NEEDS TO PRESS THE BRAKE TO BE ALLOWED TO RESTART THE ENGINE.

2 THE AMT REMAINS A MANUAL GEARBOX, INCLUDING A CLUTCH INSTEAD OF A TORQUE CONVERTER. THE CLUTCH TEMPERATURE IS MONITORED AND IN CASE THE CURRENT OPERATING CONDITIONS MAY LEAD IT TO OVERHEATING, THEN THE DRIVER IS WARNED BY A BUZZER.DURING THIS OPERATING MODE, THE SMALL DISPLAY UNIT INTEGRATED TO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INDICATES ONLY D, R, OR N.

  • Dos and donts Slopes A car fitted with an AUTOMATIC transmission gearbox can be maintained in a slope without depressing the brakes, only by playing on the accelerator pedal. This is possible due to the fact that the torque is transmitted by a TORQUE CONVERTER.The AMT is based on a MANUAL TRANSMISSION GEARBOX. The component which is transmitting the torque is actually a normal clutch. When using an AMT vehicle, it is possible to keep the vehicle sitting in a slope by only playing on the accelerator pedal, but, like with all Manual transmissions, this will eventually result in a quick increase of the clutch temperature. The clutch temperature is permanently controlled by the TCU using a software strategy (THERE IS NO SENSOR), and when it is found too high (threshold = 250C), the warning buzzer is activated.

  • Dos and donts Parking WHEN PARKING,ALWAYS PULL THE HAND BRAKE!The AMT is a manual transmission, thus it DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY PARK FUNCTIONOn the other hand, like all manual transmissions, it is possible to park the car with a gear engaged, by simply stopping the engine with brakes ON without going back to Neutral. When the car has been stopped with a gear engaged, it is impossible to restart the engine, unless the brakes are depressed. This safety feature is called the ANTI-START function. When the vehicle cannot start AND the engine does not rotate, the first thing to check apart from the battery is this function.

IT IS FORBIDDEN TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND A GEAR ENGAGED, SO THE WARNING BUZZER WILL BE ACTIVATED AS SOON AS A DOOR IS OPEN IF THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AND A GEAR IS STILL ENGAGED

  • Dos and donts Push-starting Vehicles using AUTOMATIC transmissions CANNOT be push-started. As the AMT IS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION, IT IS POSSIBLE TO CRANK THE VEHICLE WITH A LOW VOLTAGE (above 5 volt) BATTERY, using the PUSH START TECHNIQUE. To do this, just:

Go to Neutral, Ask somebody to push the car, As soon as a reasonable speed is reached,( 7kmh or buzzer are activated ) push the gear shifting lever towards (+)
