    Saving Roll

Fade up as Alex sits, waiting for people to arrive. He looks at the clock several

times before impatiently standing and pacing. The clock reads 7:04pm.

Cut to a man and woman getting out of the car, one of them is carrying a plastic

bag filled with food and drink.

Man: Well, if we had left when I said, then we wouldn't be late, would we?

Woman: Oh Jay, stop whining. We're only like (Glances at watch) five minutes late.

Jay: Yeah but this is Alex. He kicks off if we are even five seconds late.

    Woman: Oh fine. Come on.

They walk to the door and knocks once and as Jay goes to knock again, the door

    opens.

    Alex: And you've been?

    Jay: Ask Becky.

Becky: We went to get food.

    Alex: Still...that doesn't mean...

Becky: Wow, jeez. We're late, we are here now and we have food. Does it matter!?

    Alex: Well, kinda...

Jay pushes past. Followed by Becky.

Jay: Come on, doesn't matter anyway. Where's Tim?

    Tim: Here!

They all glance at the door.

Tim: Sorry I was late. Only went and forgot my die halfway here, had to go back and get

    them.

Alex: (Sighs) Doesn't matter, get in. (Closes door)

    Becky: All right, lets game.

They all enter 'The Gaming Room (TGR)'. A large table, with ample room for the

foor of them. Across it are pencils, rubbers, paper, die and at one side, a GM

    screen.

They all sit in respective places. As Alex sits, he hands out character sheets. Jay

hands out a bottle of drink to everyone and some random munchies.

Alex: I took the liberty of rolling all your characters for you, to save time. They are

    more or less evenly based.

Tim: Wait...why does this say 'Apocalypse Z', I thought we were playing the 'Gnomes

    and Dwarves' campaign?

Jay: Yeah, well about that, we had a roleplaying meeting, and decided that-

Tim: What!? Wait, you couldn't of had a roleplaying meeting, because I, one of the

    roleplayers, wasn't there!?

Jay: Okay, lets call it more of a 'Conversation set at a particular time regarding a certaintopic'.

    Tim: Regarding what?

Becky: The fact that we are getting a bit sick of fantasy roleplay at the moment. So we

switched to modern day zombie Apocalypse.

Tim: What? Why did no-one tell me?

Alex: Because then you wouldn't come, but now your here, you may as well play!

    Tim: But-

    Alex: No buts! Let's start.

    Tim crosses his arms moodily.

    Tim: Fine.

Alex: Before we begin, I need character names. So, (Points at Becky) name?

    Becky: Okay, urm...Lara.

    Alex: (Jots down)Next!

    Jay: Urmm...Blake.

    Alex: (Jots down) Lastly!

    Tim: Hmmph...Tim.

Alex: (looks at him) I'm warning you, you better not be this childish all night.

Tim: Maybe I just want the name Tim.

Alex: Fine. (Jots down) Okay, ready!?

They all nod. As Alex describes the setting the camera fades to various shots, to fit

    in (RP).

Alex: They year is 2014. After the accidental global release of deadly toxin, people

    started resurrecting as Zombies-

    Jay: Wait!

    Camera cuts back to TGR.

Jay: What kind of Zombies? Traditional, slow moving dumb things or fast, smart, 28

    days later zombies?

Alex: Traditional. Now, don't interrupt me.

    Jay: Okay, good.

    Fades back.

Alex: It has been several months after the initial incident, and you three decided it was

smarter to try and survive it together. You are all heading towards an outpost that was

reported to have more survivors, only the last time you heard the broadcast over the

radio was ten days ago. The outpost is located on the outskirts of a town over the

mountain you have begun to climb. You took shelter for the night in an abandoned

quarry building. Now you are all awake, you decide on what to do next? Whether to

continue as planned or maybe head back?

    Camera cuts back to TGR.

    Tim: Head back.

Jay: Tim! I swear I will slap your morbid face in a minute.

Becky: Guys, come on, stay in character!

    Tim: Sorry.

    Camera cuts back to RP.

Lara: I think we should definately continue onwards. We have nowhere to go back to,

and if there is even a small chance of survivors being this way, I think we should take it.

Jay: Agreed, It makes sense. Tim?

    Tim: Head back.

Jay slaps Tim on the face.

    Camera cuts back to TGR.

    Tim: OW!

    Jay: You had it coming.

    Camera cuts back to RP.

    Tim: Fine, onwards.

Alex: Good. You all leave the building. What do you do?

Jay: I'll use my tracking skill to try and detect nearby Zombies.

    Alex: Okay, roll.

The noise of dice being rolled is heard.

Alex: As you scout near the trees, you see nothing. However, as you turn, one stumbles,

from the undergrowth, and onto you. (Zombie falls onto Jay as they fall to the

ground) You both drop to the ground. Roll.

The noise of dice being rolled is heard.

Alex: You fail to push it off you. You continue to struggle.

    Blake: Little help here guys!

Becky: I'll use the bat in my inventory.

    Alex: Okay.

The noise of dice being rolled is heard.

Alex: You run up to the zombie and swing. The blow hits it exactly across the waist and

    it rolls off Blake, squirming.

    Lara: Die Zombitch!

The noise of dice being rolled is heard.

Lara swings again and the camera switches to a face shot of Lara as it hits it on the

    head and it crumples.

    Camera cuts back to TGR.

    Blake: Nice shot! (High fives)

    Becky: No problem!

Tim: In fairness, you are kind of a badass!

Becky: I'll take that as a compliment.

    Alex: Yeah, so what now?

    Camera cuts back to RP.

Tim: We must venture up the mountain, only at its peak will we truely know if the

    broadcast was heresy or neigh.

    Camera cuts back to TGR.

Becky: Dude, come on. You know this isn't fantasy, so why roleplay as one.

Jay: If its making him roleplay, I dont really care.

    Alex: Jay has a point.

    Becky sighs glaring at Tim.

    Camera cuts back to RP.

    Blake: Yes, lets continue up.

Alex: As you walk up the mountain, you see the trees getting denser the higher you

climb There is also a faint, sickly smell lingering in the subtle winds.
